Remarks
On the whole NMIT is an all-rounder. Every bit of talent, knowledge and hard-work is respected here. Opportunities are provided and you are pushed forward to take it up and excel in it. Help is always offered to those who need it.
Entrance Preview
Common Entrance Examination. It has a good course structure and its an autonomous institution. Wide campus, good transport facility and moreover a good and competent computer science faculty.
Course Curriculum Overview
Encouraging. Subjects were chosen as per industry requirements. The professors were aware of the competitive software industry and pushed us to achieve the best we can. There were projects in every subject which enabled us to get a hands on experience. just by knowing theory we cannot achieve anything. Holding a practical knowledge is of importance.
Internships Opportunities
No, college does not provide internship but we could look for off-campus internships. Stipend was 5000-7000 and a good learning experience.
Placement Experience
There were around 30-50 companies that visited our college for placements. 90% of the CSE students were placed in these companies. Companies like Microsoft,Yahoo,Dell,Wipro,Infosys,TechM,Capgemini,Tesco,LnT,TCS etc have recruited a good amount of able students.
College Events
Our college organizes many technical departmental festivals. We as CSE students participate in other department festivals. Our cultural festival Anaadyanta is the one of the biggest Techno-cultural fest in Bangalore. College all over Karnataka participate here. The participants and winners are given immense prize and recognition.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fee structure is quite okay. The COMED-K fees are high and so are the management fees. But students and parents who can afford it can finish a 4 year degree course in 10 Lakhs. CET fees are very nominal for a degree course in Bangalore. The other miscellaneous fees are also affordable.
Fees and Financial Aid
I do not have much idea about it. There were organisations like IEEE which valued talent and ideas ans offer rewards and scholarships to students.
Campus Life
There were almost equal ratios in all departments except Mechanical Engineering because it is still considered sometimes that girls are not for that course as there is not future for them. There was equality, respect for all religions, caste and economic status. Workshops were held quite often.
Hostel Facilities
There are separate girls and boys hostel. Each having 3 building to accommodate as many as possible. Many non Karnataka students study in NMIT. This becomes ideal for them. The hostel rooms are shared between 2. A common bathroom and toilet which is clean and as running water. Not much idea about room rentals,as I was not a hostel-lite.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumni and senior students are always available for the students and the faculty. There's always a string attached to NMIT. They provide reality guidance of the work culture and opportunities outside of college so that we can work towards it during our last years in college.
Exam Structure
It was all well planned out. No clashes. Lab exams used to take place before the theory papers. Internals were structured such that we cover 80% of the portions. This made us learn the rest easily. Though exams were tough and competitive,we were given enough material and work so that we can write the paper with a good base knowledge.
Admission
During Common Entrance Examination counselling, I was given a list of college with available courses. After my research on the colleges I wanted NMIT was fitting all the requirements. A tour of the college was done and documents & forms were submitted. Administration was very systematic and organized. Quick procedures were followed in order to avoid students and parents from waiting.
Faculty
Faculty of CSE in NMIT were all Ph.d holders. Held a good amount of knowledge in the subject they taught. They also knew the requirements for job opportunities and trained us for the same. They encouraged us to know more and have an in-dept insight. We were also encouraged to collaborate with inter disciplinary projects to broaden our spectrum.
