Memories of SKUAST-K

The eligibility for the course is 10+2 with science biology as the main subject. The student should have 60% marks in the 10+2 examination. The application form, application fees and application dates are found at the official website of the skuast kashmir that is @skuastkashmir.nic.in The reservation benefits of OBC category is 20 percent. Mainly the admission process is offline. It goes very hectic for the students to go for offline mode. Fully online mode for admission process will be beneficial for all students.

As Kashmir is a horticulture based union territory. Most of the people are engaged in Horticulture. Because of its vast future I choose the course BSc of Horticulture. The faculty student ratio in our campus is about 1:15 Qualification of all the faculty members is very high.All are PHDs in their respective courses. Teaching methods is mostly on smart classes. Practical classes are also very high in the faculty. There were mid exams and end term exams in each semester. Gap for exams was mostly 5-6 weeks. Difficulty level of exams is moderate.

The course fee for Open merit students as well as self finance students varies. Course fee for OM students goes 120000 While as for self finance students it is upto 200000 or more without Hostel fee. But now this year the fee has been hiked by 30%. There was no financial assistance in our course. But one can apply for state scholarships or central scholarships.

There is annual kissan mela in the university. That's is mostly celebrated in end of February or Early March.There is mostly sale of plants and seeds in the mela. There is also a central library in the middle of the campus. There are lot of books related to all the course which are taught in the entire course. Daily newspapers and journals are also available in the library. Classrooms are well curtained as well as consists of smart classes. Heating system and fan system is also available in classrooms. Sports week is also organised in our faculty where many outdoor as well as indoor games are played. There is no social group run by students. But there are many pages on Instagram and FB run by students.

There is also a well Hostel facility available in SKUAST-K. There are 3 boys and 3 girls hostels in the faculty. All hostels are three storeyed. Hostel rooms are well ventilated with single bed systems. Meal quality and menu is best in the skuast. Countaints good breakfast lunch as well as dinner. Hostel registration is done after academic registration in offline mode. We can rent a room outside the campus near Shalimar and Dargah areas.
