Shivaji College- Science Department

Shivaji College is one of the constituent colleges of the University of Delhi. The college has been accredited with a grade ‘A’ by NAAC DBT-sponsored star college scheme. The Principal of the college is Prof. Shiv Kumar Sehdev. The college has a huge campus and a separate sports complex and provides a good academic environment along with the doors open to one’s hobbies and interests. The college is a good choice for students who want to pursue a career in the science field. The college has got five science departments that include the Department of Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Physics, and Biochemistry. Among them, the Department of Chemistry, Zoology, Botany, and Biochemistry are sponsored by the DBT Star college scheme. The college highly works on skills and knowledge other than the course work. The college has got well-equipped labs and hard-working lab staff. These departments also organize summer training programs, hands-on workshops, and interactive talk sessions with some renowned professors in the science field.

Exams are held after every 5 months and the level of the exam is quite good. Whereas it's not difficult to pass the exam for student who study, it varies from person to person. But after all the hard work teachers do to make us understand the concept it's not very hard to atleast pass the exams.

Students are eligible for internships from the very first semester whereas having a placement with at least a bachelor's degree or graduation is a prerequisite. Highest package - 5lpa average package - 3.6 lpa. ICICI, Zomato, India skill capital, growth arrow etc 65% students get placement on an average. My plan after getting my bachelor's degree is to do masters from a good institute.

The fee structure is quite high as far as government colleges are considered but the quality of education and facilities we get is worth it. The college offers many scholarships having different criteria.

Our college has NSS, NCC, an Art club- Vibgyor, a dance society- footloose, a placement cell- enactus, an organizing society- Anchorage and many more like Bizzare - fashion society, shutterbugs, vayam, dictum, and eco club which is run by students. The college also has a music society- reverb.
