Remarks

The admission process was smooth although there was an entrance exam. Usually, CUSAT CAT notification is out in March and the exams are conducted in May. And the results are mostly declared in June. The application fee is 1000 for most subjects and you can find the application form on the university's official website once it is opened. For me, the entire admission process was smooth and the staff was cooperative during the entire process. After being selected, the HOD himself gave instructions to me and that was a really good experience.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I choose this course because I enjoyed this subject and it'll lead to a career. There were 24 students in our class and 6 professors. All the professors are highly qualified and knowledgeable. Exams were conducted on time and results were published fast. The level of exams was medium. class notes were provided for each subject.

Internships Opportunities

4

There is also an opportunity for an internship at CUSAT. For engineering students, internship opportunity is more compared to other departments. Generally speaking, the stipend is around 10000. But for some internships, there is no stipend. For instance, in MoSPI (Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation), there is an internship opportunity but the drawback is that, in this case, there is no stipend.

Placement Experience

4

Our batch didn't get placement opportunities due to covid-19 crisis. But generally speaking, many students get placed by different companies in the university. Many students are placed in famous companies like CISCO, Infosys, Wipro, TCS, Oracle, etc. The percentage of students getting placed in different companies is very high in CUSAT. For example, in 2022, 39 out of 40 B.Tech students got placed under different companies. So for placement opportunities, CUSAT is good.

Fees and Financial Aid

For every semester, the fee is around 4000/5000. For SC/ST students, the semester fee is much low (around 300). Yes, you may get a government scholarship while you are studying here. The University has good facilities and infrastructure, so considering this, the cost of the study is much low.

Campus Life

4

Coming to campus life, since I studied there during the Covid-19 crisis, students were not given enough freedom to go out. There are many fests like 'Sargam' which are conducted annually. These will blow your mind. Other than this, there are many fests and shows that I can hardly name. The University has an awesome library where you can find most of the books. The library infrastructure is very good. CUSAT has very good infrastructure. Various sports events like annual sports meet, cricket match, and chess competition is conducted at the university. There are numerous clubs in CUSAT which are working actively.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Hostels in CUSAT have decent facilities. They have awesome infrastructure, just basic facilities but are of decent quality. In a single room, there are 3 beds, a table, and a fan. The meal they provide in the hostel is just okay. You don't get a wide variety of food here and the food is okay. The registration process is simple to get a hostel room. Students who are residents of distant places are given more priority for living in hostels. The hostel fee including expenditure on food is just 2300 rupees.

Obviously this physics course is tough but the influence of the teachers and other staff made us too motivated and the systematic exam schedule helped us to complete our portion before the exams and there is some more time for the revision purpose.. There teaching method are so useful and they treat us so politely and in friendly nature. So its too easy to clear doubt and feel comfortable to ask them and clear anything.. Its so helpful for us to complete our exam nicely...

Remarks:

JEE Rank was the main factor. The facilities like hostel, labs, etc mentioned in the IIT Palakkad website. During the allotment process, one senior girl student of my branch contacted me and cleared all my doubts whether it was small or big, placement details, etc. After the rankings were released, based on the previous years cut-off ranks, I was able to get a fair idea about the colleges I would be able to join among all the IITs, NITs, IIITs. Based on JEE Mains rankings, NIT or IIITs can be chosen. Based on JEE Advance ranking, IIT can be chosen. Also, 2 mock allotment will take place which gives a fair idea of which allotment we will get. These mock allotment will be based on our preferences. We can change them after the mock. Then the actual allotment will start. Once we finalise our preferences and lock them, there will be 7 rounds of allocation. 3 options will be given in each round-Float, Freeze,Slide (details will be clearly mentioned in the website). Once you are allocated a seat in any round, document verification will take place (seat acceptance fee must be paid at this stage).
