Remarks

The college Training and Placement Office needs to be modernized though it's not bad. Also the Campus mess food management must be handed over to the students so that the quality of food becomes better.

Entrance Preview

I took CET Karnataka, 1999. I was ranked 575. I opted for SIT due to its culture. education model and campus facilities.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I opted for B.E.in Electronics and Communication. The curriculum was under the centralized VTU Belgaum University. The course was exhaustive and the practicals were very interesting. The focus was into to learning to engineer rather than gaining bookish knowledge. I took Oracle RDBMS as Elective.

Internships Opportunities

No, Unfortunately, the internship wasn't there till we were in college. But things might change later on so this needs to be checked.

Placement Experience

4.5

The campus placements were awesome though 20003 was not a year of opportunities. We had all leading companies coming into college. I was selected in the first company that came in (Sasken) so am not aware how was the placements later on but most of our teammates were placed indicated that the placements were good.

College Events

5

There were many events celebrated in our college. There was a huge auditorium that was used for the festivals. Right from national festivals like Holi, Diwali etc to the Technical fests and Cultural fests happened every time in the year. The participants were very enthusiastic and all these were done with huge success. We got a lot of help from out seniors and teachers.

Fee Structure And Facilities

In 2003 it was around Rs. 32000 a year but that has definitely changed by this time. This was only the tuition fees. There was the examination fees and hostel fees if applicable. This was a reasonable expense keeping in mind that the returns were very high compared to the expenditure. Other than that, there were not mandatory expenses except personal ones.

Fees and Financial Aid

I am not aware of this as this is something that I never availed. But this college had a trust behind to support - the Siddaganga Trust hence I am sure there must be something to help needy students.

Campus Life

4.5

Campus life was awesome. The weather in Tumkur was really good and the extracurricular activities were many. We had a full-fledged stadium to host big matches. There was basketball ground, tennis ground etc. We used to have a lot of fun. The labs were also of good standards - we had got ample chance to practice in the labs. The labs were open for a long time and hence we never faced issues. The gender balance was 1:2 for a female to male.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Hostel facilities were pretty good. Nice rooms and clean bathrooms. The Food was average but hygienic and healthy. Hostel food can never be great unless the mess is controlled by the students - here it wasn't the case. But still it's manageable and we used to get timely food and tea all day. The mess also opened for a long time in the night.

Alumni/Alumna

We have our own Alumni network wherein we get to know about the happenings about out college. They are very helpful. This is also a great networking opportunity to get placed. We had visited the college even after passing out and had given suggestions for campus placements.

Exam Structure

Exams were conducted every semester. There were 3 internals tests and the best 2 results out of 3 were taken for internal marks and the final exam happened as per VTU rules. Exams happened with sufficient gaps so we had ample time to study. Also, there were sufficient gaps before the practicals so we got to practice a lot.

Admission

The application form was available in the bank branches. The ad for CET was given in TOI. I applied and got the test admit card. Sat for the exam, it was a MCQ type exam. Books were available in leading bookstores. The exam was extremely competitive.

Faculty

5

The faculty was of very high standard. All the teachers were qualified for the respective subjects that they taught. The concepts were very clear to them and they did inculcate the same ideas into the student's minds. They were extremely helpful and logical. They clarified all the doubts in the student's mind.

Placement Experience:

Students in my college have a very good amount of campus placements where students become eligible from the final year 7th semester however the placement cell starts training from the 1st year means 1st semester itself like training for aptitude test, coding and mock interviews. Top it companies like TCS infosys, wipro, Accenture, capgemini, cognizant, IBM, tech mahindra mind tree. The campus receives 300+ offers. The average package 8 - 10 LPA and highest package 54 LPA. Every year 90% students are placed. After my degree i am planning to higher studies in abroad.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is generally detailed and aligned with industry Expectations but there is still scope for modernisation in certain areas.Overall i would like to rate 8/10. The syllabus include both theoretical and multiple lab components which ensures hands on learning. The practical labs like programming work and project with learning help students understand how concepts are applied in real work places. A few theory heavy subjects feel outdated and no longer match the current industry demand this could be revised or replaced.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for placements from the 6th semester, but the overall placement scenario in DSCE for CSE is below average. Not even 50% of students get placed in good companies. Most students end up getting offers from mass recruiters or in sales and non-tech roles. Only a small percentage of top performers get decent technical packages. Companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Capgemini, Accenture, Cognizant, and a few mid-tier companies visit the campus, but the number of high-package, core-tech roles is very limited. The average package is on the lower side compared to other top COMEDK colleges. Because of this, many students plan for higher studies, certification courses, or off-campus drives after completing the degree. The on-campus placement support definitely needs improvement, especially for technical roles.”

Placement Experience:

The students who are studying in 7th semester ( final year) are eligible for campus placements but before that in 5th semester there is pre placement training like aptitude everything. Top companies visit for placement like TCS , infosys, wipro, accenture, capegemini, IBM, techmahindra, Mindtree. Average there are 150-250 offers. Average package is 7-8 lpa. The highest package is 54 lpa at botify company. 85 % of students get placed at cse branch and ai amd ml and civil 30 - 50% . Overall 80% students gets placed. My plan is join a top product based company liek google with a good life.
