Remarks
The application process consisted of 3 stages-Aptitude test(UGPET), Group Discussion, Personal Interview. The process is pretty straightforward and goes one after another. Once a candidate is selected, other formalities are taken care of. There is a scholarship provided on a merit basis which is based on class 12th marks.
Course Curriculum Overview
I had applied for the course B.Sc Economics. And in Pune, only 3 colleges offer this course out of which MIT is one. The faculty here always urges students to understand the subject better and its utility in the real world. Their expertise in specialized fields makes it even easier for students to understand the subject to the core. Our curriculum is based on a trimester system wherein there are 3 term exams with different courses taught in a span of 3-4 months. And each trimester has 1 Mini-project wherein we have to submit a research paper we worked on the entire trimester.
Internships Opportunities
The same goes for internships. companies take names of students but hardly a few get selected. There are a few consistent companies that came in with good stipends this year. Companies from finance and market research should be becoming as it is based on our field. But at the same time, there are internships from other fields too which are irrelevant to us like digital Marketing, etc. The majority of the students went looking for internships on their own.
Placement Experience
There is not much to say about the placements provided by the college. Being a new stream in the university, the economics graduates are given the least importance in terms of the selection process from the companies side. Many companies come for students but never revert. There is a lack of communication.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee for the course is Rs.1,60,000/yr. There are scholarships in the 2nd yr on merit based on the 12th score. The scholarship starts at a 50% to 75% waiver in tuition fees of the respective academic year.
Campus Life
Due to the covid-19 pandemic, we couldn't discover much of college life. But the campus is definitely beautiful! Social life is good as you find like-minded people and great seniors. The annual fests are definitely one of the best times of the year. The college has all amenities required starting from curriculum to non-curricular activities.
Interview Experience
Yes, I did go through all the rounds of selection, written tests, group discussion, and personal interviews. The GD topics were quite simple and easy to talk about. The PI was mainly on current affairs and basic economics.
