My honest Experience in WBSU

West Bengal state university (main campus) does not take any admission tests for post-graduation. They publish a merit list based on the graduation subject marks. The application fee is RS 600 you can find the application form on the university's official website. Here the competition is very high. More marks you get in graduation the more chance of being on the merit list. For example in our mathematics department cut off marks was more than 70% marks in graduation. I hope you understand the eligibility of getting a chance. As reservation seats are available minority students can get a chance with a little bit of less number.

I want to be a teacher of mathematics while I love doing mathematics. I have always wanted to be a mathematics teacher or professor so I have chosen this higher study. We have a total of 45 students in our department and we have 5 faculties. So our student-faculty ratio is quite good. Our faculties are knowledgeable and have a lot of expertise as all of them have completed P.hD. They take regular offline classes and practical classes also. Most of our classes are very much interactive. We have a total of 4 semesters to pass. Exams are not very difficult to pass if you study accordingly to your professors

The cost of studying here is manageable. For every semester the fee is around Rs 5900-6500. Then the total cost of studying here is around 24000-26000. This is comparatively low than many other universities. University does not give any kind of financial assistance. But you can apply for scholarships. One important thing is that our university approve only one scholarship per student. So if you apply for SVMCM scholarships you cannot apply for OASIS and vice versa. So be careful about this. Girls can apply for Kanyashree scholarships and for boys and girls both SVMCM scholarships and for minority students OASIS scholarships are available

We do not have any kind of tech fest in our university however we have some cultural programs happening every year. The most famous activity is a cultural festival organized by our student union where many students from different departments join in dancing, recitation, singing and many other activities. Other than that Saraswati Puja, Teacher's Day, Netaji, Rabindra Jayanti Independence day and many other days are celebrated. Our university classroom and campus is very good. We have wifi facilities, hand sanitization facilities etc. The classrooms are very clean and well decorated. We have a huge library where all of our department books are available. All the bookshelves are nicely organized. We have a study room and computer rooms too. We have a sports room for carrom table tennis chase etc indoor games. And we have annual sports function where high jump, long jump, running etc programs are organized. We have hostel facility too
