Remarks

My GATE score was between 530 to 550 and I wanted to be part of IIT. After going through a few colleges and suggestions I decided to opt for IIT Jammu. The college was best going with my preference for best placement record, good faculties and high educational standards. Candidate must clear GATE exam and must secure 60% marks in bachelors degree of related stream and 55% for SC/ST students. The candidate has to register for COAP counselling for seat allocation. To apply for admission one must visit the college official website fill out the application form and pay an application fee of Rs 300 online.

4.5

The curriculum of the programs meets all the technological standards. The curriculum is designed to impart students not only academic knowledge but to understand the importance of technology and its impact on the industry and humans so that the technology can be used for industrial and human development. The college helps students to develop leadership skills and their responsibilities towards society.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

The college placement committee helps us during the internship program. The committee is able to attract a good number of companies for the internship programs. We are eligible for an internship after completing the first year. It is not necessary that every company provides stipends. Stipend depends varies from company to company that usually ranges from Rs. 12000/- to Rs. 86000/-.

Placement Experience

4.5

As the institute is in its initial phase that does not mean that you won't receive any placement. The college placement committee is fully supportive and if you are a hardworking person you will receive a good placement. The committee is able to invite good companies for placement. Companies like Amazon, Arista Networks, The Captury, DESAY S V Automotive, Toppr, HealthifyMe, L&T, Cognizant, Indian Air Force (IAF), etc visited the campus to participate in the placement drive of the college. The highest package for our batch went up to 45 LPA and the average package was around 12 LPA.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college provides stipends to some of the underprivileged students. The college provides scholarships to its merit students and underprivileged students. To know about the scholarship program and eligibility criteria for it you can visit the college official website.

4

The campus life of the college is very good the entire year is full of fests and many events. Fests like Technectus- is a technical fest, Renao- is a cultural fest. The college also organises the sports competition with the different departments of the college. The classrooms are big properly ventilated and equipped with modern equipment like projector screens, AC, and recording equipment.

4.5

The hostel rooms are available for double sharing. The rooms are not too big but adequate for 2 students. The rooms are equipped with beds, almirahs, and a study table. The food of the mess is good and tasty. The student in the hostel are from all the states of India so the menu of the mess is also very vast. Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course to gain information about computers very deeply and to fulfill my dream. The student-faculty ratio was 1:20 i.e. 1 teacher in a 20-student class, according to me, this is the better ratio in terms of faculty and student ratio. Masters + PhD (NET or NET/JRF or SET). Exams were taken on time and the passing of the exams was at a moderate level not too easy or not too difficult.

Placement Experience:

There were only a few opportunities for students to appear in various Campus recruitment drives due to the conditions prevalent in the state of J&K. However, the campus did witness some PSU's towards the end of my 7th semester. Companies like HPCL, IOCL and GAIL visited primarily for recruitment of Mechanical engineering students. Although some four students from Civil Engineering also got placed. The recruitment process included three stages: 1. Selection of 3 or 4 students for group discussion, based on CGPA scored. 2. GROUP DISCUSSION 3.INTERVIEW

Overall it is a good college with respect to the quality of faculties and the library. Students are provided with a good reading room with one separated from the other by a board. Still, I would say the college management need to work a bit harder and address the gender inequality issues which girls are facing here.
