Remarks

There is an entrance exam that is based on the 11th and 12th syllabus math, physics, chemistry and English. All questions are Mcqs which are one mark each with no negative marking. After a month of writing the exam, results will be released. Usually, getting computer science in the RR campus is difficult. The cutoff would be around 650-1000 rank. And for taking up computer science in any of both campuses PESSAT rank must be below 1200 (not exactly). Usually, getting into RR campus for any branch, the rank must be below 3000 to 4000 I guess. The strength when I took admission was 1200 for freshman year. 600 students get into college from entrance exam and another 600 students from common entrance exam which is conducted by Karnataka government. There will be counselling after the announcement of results, you will have to carry DD to pay the college fee if someone is willing to take up the admission. You get to choose a branch if you have less rank, or else you will have to choose what is left over.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I was interested in computer science. And I heard many reviews about the benefits of taking computer science, saying it's an interesting course and there's a lot of scope getting into tech industries. Also, there's a good review that our college has a good curriculum. The number of students in each class would be around 60-70. The female to male ratio would be around 25:55, the number of girls is less, which is less than half of the strength. This is the ratio in most of the branches and sometimes it would be very less also. Now coming to the faculty, most of the teachers are highly qualified with PhD or other higher degrees. The teaching method is also good. Most of the teachers follow slides instructed by the chairperson. Now coming to the exams, internal exams are conducted twice a semester. First, one is conducted 1 month or more after the new semester begins. In the end, end semester exams are conducted, which are difficult by the way. Lab exams are conducted right before the end semester exams.

Internships Opportunities

4

Right now, I just took a few placement exams, I'll be taking many exams further. People who got placed into companies might have a 3-6 month internship which is part-time, later if students are ready and willing to take up full time job only if they're interested.

Placement Experience

4.5

Placements are good in the college. Students from semester 5 are eligible to write placement exams conducted by the college. On writing on those exams, people get selected for internships with stipends depending on the company you get into, then you get full time if you're interested to continue. Around 90% of the students get placed. Some people choose higher studies, preparing for exams after getting into semester 5. Many internships start after 3rd year. Many People start getting placed from starting of the 7th semester. My plans are to focus on placements.

Fees and Financial Aid

The annual college fee is 3,20,000 when I took admission which was two years ago. I took computer science, also the fee is the same for every other branch. Every year 10,000 got increased in the college fee for every branch. Next year it might be 5,00,000 per year for computer science. The cost of study in our college is very high if people took admission to the University entrance exam. For people getting into college from the common entrance test (CET), the annual fee is around 1,00,000 I guess. Now coming to the scholarships, people who score above 8.5 sgpa, who are in the top 20% of the strength, get a scholarship of 20% of their annual fee. And people who are in the top 10% of the strength, get a scholarship of 25% of the annual fee. Scholarships are given every semester. There are also other scholarships based on reservation and annual income. Most of the people graduate with decent packages and get placed into good companies. Depending on skills, people get placed into good companies.

Campus Life

4

The college campus is not so big. But the infrastructure is good. The campus has many numbers of classes for holding huge strength, but there's no space for students to come out and sit in college as the college campus is small for a huge crowd. Now coming to the facilities provided by the college, labs are available but less in number. The library is available which is big and most of the books, research journals, novels are also available. The study area is also big and the infrastructure is very good. Extra activities like encouraging art, there are many clubs like fashion club, dance club, music club, poetry, research, entrepreneurship, literature, social service and many. Many tech clubs are there in college. Most of those clubs are run by students only. Sports are also there in college and tournaments are also conducted. Students are encouraged to participate in as many clubs as they are interested in. A college is a place where you have a lot of opportunities, utilising them gives a lot of good experience

Hostel Facilities

3

The college provides hostel facilities. Girls hostel is an outside campus, boys campus is inside the hostel. Food is good most of the time provided by hostel mess which is in college. Outside college, it's not that good. After taking admission, people can register for hostels. The annual fee is 1,00,000. You get 3-4 people in a hostel room of your choice.

The placement cell is very active in our college. Every year more than 30+ companies come to our college for recruitment . Our seniors from 7th semester get placed in many companies and before getting placed in the company our college offers internships to every student. Around 80 % of the students get placed in companies and work efficiently. The average package for civil engineering is 2.5 lakh per annum.

Placement Experience:

RIT's placement scenario is very good, even for the most unpopular branches such as Civil Engineering. Starting from the 7th semester, students are allowed to participate in campus recruitment, and companies come to the campus for the entire final year. The major recruiting companies are L&T Construction, Shapoorji Pallonji, Brigade Group, Sobha Developers, Atkins, PWD, and Infosys for the non-core sector. Civil students on an average get ?5–6 LPA as salary, and the highest offer is usually in the range of ?12–15 LPA, depending on the company and the position. Almost 70–80% of Civil students are placed, while some of them go for higher studies or government examination.Site engineer, design engineer, planning engineer, survey engineer, and trainee engineer are the core positions that are offered. Also, non-traditional roles in IT and consulting can be taken up by those who are not interested in core engineering profiles.I will first acquire some work experience in the industry after completing my degree and then will pursue a master's degree in structural engineering to gain further specialization.

Students become elegible for placements from 7th sem onwards but we are encouraged to do internship before final itself. Most of the companies that come here aren't t1 or even t2. Highest probably would be 12L only if the student is exceptional but most would secure a package 4-6. And the percentage of students getting placed is <50%
