In general management was from the faculty and a few dedicated administration people. It was well managed in that one did not notice when things got done.

IIT JEE. One of the top engineering colleges, it matched my aspiration to be in a college with top grade students and in the course of my choice.

Excellent. It covered both basic sciences, general engineering and the specialization courses at a very high level. It provided to the student a great grounding, a very strong foundation in engineering in general and then a deep specialization in the subjects of choice.

Yes. There is an 8 week internship that is part of the course requirement. The college facilitates the internship by inviting companies to the campus and selection. Stipend levels would have changed significantly over the years. Typically, it would be about 25% of the starting salary of a new pass-out.

Excellent. 100% placement for all who want jobs is certain. In fact, most students end with with 2-3 jobs to choose from. Of course, for students who wish to study further, opportunities are aplenty too and with the college's reputation, it is unlikely to be left without a post-graduation of your choice.

Cultural festivals were a major item on the timetable. Apart from the annual 'Rendezvous' which was the biggest and best festival in probably the country, each hostel had its festivals and also the various student bodies. IIT was also invited and participated in all DElhi University festivals.

In our time, it was a absolute steal (Rs 800 pa to cover tution fees, hostel fees, medical, etc. ). Only food would be additional (approx. Rs 150-200 pm). Despite increases over the years, it is probably still a very inexpensive education for the quality it delivers.

The college offered Merit-cum-Means scholarship for students with a low parental income, though this was available only to a small %age of students. Scholarship for academic excellence was only only token.

Extra-curricular activities were plenty and opportunities more than what one could actually avail. The campus life was a full one leaving us all with memories to last a lifetime. Gender ratio was a constant joke with women < 10% of the student population.

Hostel rooms would be twin sharing for the first 2 years and single rooms thereafter. 100% campus hostel accommodation would be provided and in fact compulsory. Rooms were comfortable, though not lavish. It would be hot in summer and nice in winter. It is

Alumni network is moderately active. People are happy to meet and share, though not particularly helpful for this reason alone. Meeting opportunities are there but few.

Exams were of 3 types : Quizzes, Minors and Majors. In each course, there would be about 3-4 quizzes, 2 minors and 1 semester-end major. With about 5 courses a semester (lasting about 5 months), this would add to about 30 tests in 20 weeks. Sounds a lot,

The faculty at IIT is one of the most dedicated and inspiring faculty one can imagine. The professors take genuine interest in the students and ensure that the student's curiosity is raised to the point that he/she looks for answers and that the answers a
