
Entrance Preview
Higher School Secondary Certificate Examination with scores in Physics (89/100), Chemistry(90/100) and Maths(96/100) (PCM- 275/300-91.7%) as entrance criteria, Total Score ( All Subjects) - 89.2%. Other options were Regional Engineering Colleges( or National Institute of Technology) and Mining Engineering with Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology(VNIT), Nagpur.
Placement Experience
Placement is good in BPCL, Honeywell, NOCIL, Thermax, Reliance Industries Limited, Nerolac, Tecnimont, Ruchi Soya,United phosphorus limited,Atul, Asian paints, Wipro, Shalimar paints etc. Above list is indicative and mostly all the students got placed during the final placements however few were able to get jobs within 6 months after completion of studies. Packages were in range of 1.25 LPA to 4.5 LPA in 2002.
College Events
Year starts with Lord Ganesha entering into campus with Ganesh Mahotsav (Teamed up to organize IT quiz in this event in 1999) & Vibrant Annual Social Gathering in month of Jan - Feb 2002 (Teamed up and coordinated for sponsorships for this event) both at Intra Collegiate Level, National Level Technical Symposium for paper and poster presentation competitions.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Feasible and Very affordable 4000 INR per year for 4 academic years of 1998 to 2002. Lab charges were also associated with the breakage of any glassware in laboratory or wastage associated with chemicals.Very few students were offered scholarships and support to fund their education mostly it was need and merit based.
Fees and Financial Aid
Scholarships were given to students from economically backward class or annual income very low less than 25000 INR per year.
Campus Life
Gender Ratio 75 :25 (Male : Female), I had an opportunity to participate and network with students from other universities at several competitions held at LIT Nagpur. All competitions were intra collegiate level with maximum participation from all the students making it extremely vibrant and distinctive.
Exam Structure
20 % - Sessional Exams and 80 % - Final Exams, Practical Exams were also associated with lab and research work were quite extensive. Days were both hectic as well as chill out with mass bunking by students. Exams were subjective with standard attempt maximum of 6 questions.
Faculty
Most of Faculty completed their Ph.ds in their sphere of interest and academically associated with several research projects. Few eminent faculty were approachable to publish research papers along with them. Faculty allowed students to be part of research projects offered by national/ international industrial collaborations.
