Remarks

I applied for dcac and GGS is 3 rd and 4th cut off respectively but then in 5th cut off I got my dream college Svc, reasons of leaving other colleges is Svc has its own brand value, with very very good placements (I got placed too), and the main thing the faculty is the best hats off to the teachers. I am general so no quota . So I had a best of 4 percentage as 96, hence in the 5th cut off got the admission. At my time maths wasn't compulsory for economics hons although I had, so I would suggest if you are good at maths then only opt for it. The admission process was quite smooth, there were the basic certificates like 12th, 10th mark sheet, provisional certificate, photocopy of Aadhaar card, a letter to the principal, etc required to submit at the reception and get it signed by the authority once it was done just paid the fees online. And it's done now to it's online at my time it was offline.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I had an interest in economics so I was pretty much clear to opt for it only and with god's grace, I got into my dream college with my dream subject. Svc is well known for its teachers. I would say that my whole faculty was seriously very experienced, all had high degrees with immense knowledge. I would definitely say if you are a studious person go for Svc because here studies are valued more than anything. In my class, I had around 85 students and for each of the 5 subjects different teachers were there. The batch size was a bit too large I must say but we were able to cope up. All my teachers had either done their Ph.D. or were pursuing it majorly from the Delhi school of economics. Also, all were graduated from DSE or jnu, etc, so they had good command on the subject as well they taught very well. I had my internals 2 times in a semester and then the main exams, teachers access us through them, and to pass them was difficult because economics is definitely difficult.

Internships Opportunities

4

I got into an internship at career marshal and got a stipend of around 5000 this was my first internship, then I got into a couple of more internships including unpaid ones but in the end, experience matters so even if you are getting unpaid go for it. My profile was of an hr executive, I took interviews and helped in finding people jobs. I had worked as a content writer also, basically, we had to write essays, articles on the topics provided.

Placement Experience

4

3rd year i.e.5th semester you are eligible for placements. KPMG, Deloitte, de Shaw, etc with a minimum package of 8lakhs. Around 2 students were placed in de Shaw with a pack of 10 lakh. The highest package was 10 lakhs for my course. Around 40%got placed. I am planning to do my master's in economics after graduation.

Fees and Financial Aid

My fees for the program were around 15000 for 1 year, apart from that I had to give an exam fee of rs 500 . During my tenure there wasn't any fee hike. I paid the same fee all over through the 3 years. I think the cost of study as compared to other colleges is very low. And the best part is you are getting the best knowledge at such a low fee. Also, there are many internship opportunities provided through internship fairs organized by the college. I too got and was able to earn pretty much from them around 8k for a month .so as a summer internship for 1 month I think it's good. Placements in the college are also a good many good companies like Deloitte, KPMG, are our partners which provide a good overall package as a graduate. So I would say don't worry about money because if you are from quota back then many perks are given.

Campus Life

4

Svc has its annual fest naming nexus, organized in March, nexus is a well-known fest among du fests offering with your favorite stars, the library of Svc is quite big with almost all the books I mean at least the course books, newspapers are also available. Classrooms are spacious with presenters and blackboard so it was good. Svc is well known for its societies and sports mainly cricket. Rishabh panth etc are here to practice as well because the playground is quite big. So I would rate it 9 for societies. We have many societies including for dance, music, poetry, etc and all have their Instagram pages.

Other Applied Colleges

Delhi college of arts and commerce | Economics honours

Because definitely Svc is better then dcac , due to its well renowned faculty and placements

Sri Guru Gobind Singh institute | Economics

I found the fee to high and also as per seniors faculty is not good for eco.

Area that should be improved that is treat every student similarly without any discrimination. Faculty don't even tdke action on sol, IGNOU and NCWEB students. So I think it should be improved firstly.

The course curriculum is relevant to the current aspects of real world. It is also very focused on the practical component of the subject and helps us know how to apply our theoretical concepts in real life. Aspects that influenced me were: the practicality, the relatibiltiy of concepts and the testing approaches as well.

Placement Experience:

Since i am 2nd year myself, hearing from seniors, seeing placement cell activities and reading reports, placement at ipcw are decent but far from perfect. The placement drive is not as huge or reliable as some commerce Acc. to the nirf report, for ug courses out of 1204 eligible students 118 got placed, which is roughly 9-10, for pg course, out of 100 eligible students only 6 got placed. Median package for UG was 6.20 lakhs per annum, and for pg is 6.7 lakhs per annum. In earlier years (2022-23) , median UG package was higher. The highest package went to 23 lakhs per annum which was quite impressive. It was from DE Show and co., Wipro, Capgeminie etc. there are regular recruiters like DE. Shaw abd co.,Wipro, Capegemini, Godrej properties, Sirion Labs etc. What i feel personaly as an eco hons. student unless i build extra i cant really expect placement. Masters and competetive exams are next option

Economics Hons can offer financial assistance and become great consultation too. So from Deloitte or the Big 4 many consultancy firms such as BCG and many more may not be that big but do come to our campus for recruitments.

The course curriculum I took is okay considering the low placement percentage from the college's side which is I would say sometimes bad and good at the same time as the students can find their own way around such things. Faculty just complete the topics. we have to study ourselves.
