Remarks

IITs don't offer MCA, so the best you can get is NIT. As you can easily get education loans for a professional course from NIT and you will get into one of the best colleges, NITs are worth trying. I applied for all the NITs in the choice filling process. After declaring the ranks, seat allotments were done in 3 rounds and got NIT Agartala in 3rd round. It has very less fees due to the location. You will have to take flights to reach Agartala. Students were not too sharp in my batch but your efforts will matter the most. Try to learn as much as possible from online resources. Attendance restriction was not there and most of the faculties were friendly.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

Faculties were friendly and some of them were too intelligent. MCA has less students as north Indians prefer IPU over Agartala. Exams were conducted timely and it wasn't very difficult to pass. Most of the faculties are enrolled in PHD, so its easy to ask for batch leave : ). Just tell them that most of the batchmates are busy in something and ask for a day leave. I would suggest to utilize that time in studing in hostel rooms as the hostel rooms are very beautiful and comfortable. MCA students are given single occupancy rooms so you won't be disturbed much. Food is average. Girls hostel have too much restriction. Some teachers are very helpful and they'll be ready to help you in almost any problem. Infact there was a female faculty who separately called me to ask if I was okay as she saw me alone and in stress a couple of times.

Internships Opportunities

4

I took internship offer offcampus. Honestly, you wont be getting any internship opportunity on campus.

Placement Experience

3.5

This year, due to corona there were endless opportunities. The packages offered to MCA was mostly in the range 3.5-4lpa. It depends on the placement coordinators which you will be voting from your batch. Even if you are not able to get on campus job, there are many of campus opportunity for NIT students.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fees of MCA in NIT Agartala is least among all the other options you will have. Even the hostel and mess fees was very low( I paid max 18k per sem for hostel+mess). I took loan from SBI from my city, so that you I wont have to go to Agartala to pay instalments and other formalities. Job opportunities are many but most of the companies won't allow MCA, so on campus highest package for MCA is generally 7-8 lpa. But, you can get many opportunities off campus including FAANG.

Campus Life

4.5

Classrooms of CSE departments are not that good, but CSE building is the best among all the buildings of campus. You will get a clean and green environment all around. MCA students are very less in number, so they find it difficult to join groups or clubs. College fest include- advaitam and aayaam. You would love the fests, however it can be improved a lot. Also there is too much restrictions for girls.

Hostel Facilities

5

Meal quality is not that good. Menu changes after few semesters. Hostels are kept very neat and clean and cleaning staffs can be asked to clean your room daily. Most of the cleaning staffs(Maasis) are humble enough. Hostel rules are very strict with a lot of politics. You won't be given any freedom and in time is around 6pm(for girls). Your classes will get over by 5:30pm. However boys can roam around in the campus whenever they want.

Admission

Due to covid, I faced only written rounds and interviews. On campus interviews are similar to of campus ones. Ultimately you will be competing with Btech CSE, so try to make your resume very impressive. Give your best in every opportunity you get.

Every year placements happen and about 80 percent of the total students of the institute get placed in various dream tier and other companies with good packages. The packages depend on year to year, more specifically on hiring trends. I still did not make a decision for my post degree plans.

From Gaya Steel, to JK Tyres and companies involved in production were the ones who gave us placements. On and average production engineers at our college were paid around 4-5 lakhs a year. The lowest of all but still in top corporate houses as no start-ups are into production. This established names where the one who gave us placements.
