Remarks
I took admission through wbjee exam. I had secured 5599 ranks. I had applied for IEM, Heritage, and Haldia. But later found that Haldia is not in the main town and IEM didn't have a good campus, Heritage was good at all. So decided to get into it. I just needed a minimum of 45% in 12th and a wbjee rank of I think less than 7500 for ECE. I had 90+ in 12th and a wbjee rank of 5599 so I easily got a seat and an admission date through wbjee counseling. I visited the college on the admission date and completed all the formalities and also applied for a college hostel. I was happy as the college had a good campus, facilities and a beautiful library.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose ECE because it was the core branch and we had a good scope. I had options to get into core companies or IT companies or into Govt. Sector. ECE is a difficult course in comparison to CSE and IT but had some advantages so I took ECE. HITK has a good number of faculties and all are well qualified. Theory classes were well n good but I mostly enjoyed practicals. Labs were well equipped and had good facilities. Overall the HITK is the best private college in WB.
Placement Experience
HITK has good placement opportunities. We started getting into placements from the end of our third year. Almost everyone got placed from my batch. As of now, the highest package was 9lpa which was from CSE, and the lowest was 3.5 LPA. I myself got offers from 4 companies through college. My highest was 7.5lpa (highest in my dept at that time).
Fees and Financial Aid
HITK has a normal fee structure of around 45000-46000 per semester. So it was kind of affordable for me. There are not many hikes in the BTech fee structure. The college is providing good placement opportunities. Currently, I am in my final year and I am already placed. I sat in 4 companies' placement and was selected for all. I had also grabbed an internship at a reputed company through college.
Campus Life
Students council and college authority are responsible for cultural fests. At my time the fest was in the month of Feb - March. It didn't happened every year because of delays and we also had COVID. For Btech students we had the central library which was very big, organised and peaceful. All the books for gate and semesters were available there. We had a playground which was always available for crickets or any sports. Our college also had some clubs like paintings club, fashion club, dance club, science club, and social units were also there like Rotaract and NSS. I was a part of NSS from my very first year. All these clubs were run by students but had one or two faculty coordinators.
Hostel Facilities
I had applied for the hostel at the time of admission and luckily got a slot also. The hostel room was 2 or 3 seated. I got a 2 seated room. The room was not big but was kind of okay. It had a cupboard, study table, and chair. We have to pay for the Mess. The food was not good. It also had a WiFi facility.
