Remarks
IIM Amritsar has a two-step process: 1) Shortlisting based on CAT for PI:- Candidates have to secure minimum pre-requisite category-wise percentile in CAT. For general, it is 95 percentile for OBC it is 80, and for SC ST, it is around 50 to 55 percentile. They also have minimum percentage criteria for 10th, 12th, and bachelor's degrees. 2) personal interview round:- After fulfilling minimum criteria, they will judge the candidate based on your work-ex, academic background etc., and finally, there will be a composite score for the selection. After a certain period, there will be a release of waitlists. -I applied for various IIMs for which I gave Interviews through CAP round and PIs and GDs. -I have availed SC quota.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course structure is well updated, and learning is based on Case-studies and live projects. We have the best quality faculties from IIM Lucknow, Kozhikode, etc., and also have visiting faculties from 1st gen IIMs. The curriculum is based on current marketing scenarios. Exams were based on mid-term and end-terms but high weightage is given from class participation and industry projects. IIM Amritsar has constantly been organizing various guest lectures and conclaves to make students learn from industry experts.
Internships Opportunities
Summer placements start from August, and it's on a rolling basis where companies visit anytime when they want to recruit. The Highest stipend stood at 1.6 lakhs and the average is 55000. They also provide students with live projects in cos. like Gocomet, spearhead consulting, greyorange to name a few. For summer interns top recruiters are ICICI bank, Cadila, Arcesium, JIo Creative labs, TATA Capitals, ICICI Lombards, etc.
Placement Experience
Students here are eligible for summer placements for the first semester itself. IIM Amritsar has a track record of 100% placement and average placement stood for 12 lakhs and the highest is for 16 lakhs. Companies like Arcesium, ICICI bank, Cadila, Haldiram, Xiaomi, Capgemini, TCS are the top recruiters. I want to go into the product management field after my MBA degree.
Fees and Financial Aid
As per the recent trend, there is an increase in fees. Currently, the academic prices are 13.2 lakhs and with mess and hostel total 15.2 lakhs. Earlier the cost was 12 lakhs. The fees cover Tuition fees, library fees, IT and Computer, Medical, etc. There is no breakup of fees in the final fees. Educational loans for admission are available through banks, candidates will have to visit any branch and just have to avail the loan( no collateral needed for IIM students ).
Campus Life
The Annual fest of IIM Amritsar is Aarunya held in March. IIM Amritsar also conducts various flash mobs in Alpha mall and at the Attari border on republic day and independence day. The library at IIM Amritsar has all the facilities well equipped with Air conditioning, IT-enabled, and computers. Has all kinds of books regarding curriculum and also for extra curriculum. Classrooms are well equipped with ACs and have projectors, the classes have permanent seating arrangements with name tags in front to get class participation marks. IIM Amritsar has a sports fest named:-Kritansh held in January. There are 11clubs and 9 committees and 3 new cells. clubs and committees are student-run and there is a flat hierarchy between them.
Hostel Facilities
IIM Amritsar's hostel are temporarily located in Blessing City catered by RAdisson blu. They provide students with 2 and 5 BHK flats were 2 person in each room. Hostels are having good hospitality and service. Mess provides veg and non-veg 4 time meal, but quality is somewhat poor as compared to my previous experiences. They charge around 25000 for 3 months.
Interview Experience
There was only an Interview process for admission in IIM Amritsar. I have prepared for the PI process through the T.I.M.E. institute. Interview topics were generally from an academic background and general awareness recent happening in India; there was a question from budget and farm bills. Several interviews had a 1 minute extempore where they gave abstract topics to talk on. Generally, for interviews I would suggest to read articles on The Hindu, Indian express and getting business insights from reputed business channels
