College Review - [RVCE], Bangalore

I had applied for few colleges in kcet and got a seat in the general merit quota. The college we will be getting during subsequent rounds will be known by us during mock rounds. A ranking of around 15000 is the maximum rank required to get admitted to the civil branch in rvce under any quota.

The reason I chose this course was that it involves practice field experience. There are about 45-50 faculties for around a total of 400-450 students. Ph.D. and experience in the specified field for about 3-4 years is the qualification of faculty. Semester exams were conducted for 5 months once and it was moderately difficult in few papers but others were moderately easy.

Ultratech cement was the core company that offered internships to only a few students. The 1 monthly internship is being offered by the college without any stipend from 2020 due to the COVID pandemic which tied up with the companies like cisco, IBI group. Industrial experts conducted classes on various real-time projects and projects were asked to be done during the last week of the internship based on which certificate was provided.

During the 7th semester, all the students will become eligible for campus placement. Most software companies come for placements during August-September And core companies for civil come to college during January. Cognizant, Flipkart, Phyllo, TheMathCompany, Deloitte are few companies and 20-30 members were selected for each company. The highest package (software) was 55 lakhs and the average was 6 lakhs.

Kcet fees paid to the government are 56000 while the college fees are 35000 which would sum up to around 85000 to 90000 under kcet quota. Under comedk quota, it would cost around 1.75 lakhs and under the management quota 7-8 lakhs. During placements, only a few of the students from the civil branch were placed in software companies along with a stipend for 6 months.

The annual fest is conducted during March every year known as the 8th mile and the concrete fest (tech fest) will be conducted every year during October which will involve quizzes, startup events, etc. Only 4-5 copies of a book will be available in the library and can be returned and renewed for 15 days. The classroom consists of fans, lights, boards, benches. All are allowed to play games like carrom, badminton, table tennis in the sports complex. There are various clubs like coding clubs, Rotaract club, NSS activities club, dance club which can be joined by anyone during 1st and 2nd years either through tests for coding clubs and through auditions for dance, arts clubs.
