Overlook of life at Maitreyi College

I applied to quite a few colleges. Earlier I was selected for Kamla Nehru college, then I also got admissions to Gargi College. Although Gargi college was my dream College I backed out at the last minute. I am a hockey player and I wanted to be a part of the hockey team of my college. But unfortunately, Gargi college didn't have a hockey team so I didn't join this college. In the end, I joined Maitreyi college. The cut-offs went to 96 in the first list and then fall slowly after each list. No examination was taken for the admissions, the admission was completely based on the 12th marks

My course is b.com. Being from a commerce background, I chose b.com as my course. The faculty is very nice especially if I talk about accountancy and Income tax. Business studies teachers are not up to the mark rest of the faculty is very supportive. Most of the faculty have done their PHDs and are highly knowledgeable. Exams are co ducted twice a year, commonly known as semesters. They are not very tough to pass if you are attentive in your classes.

There are a lot of internships opportunities. A lot of companies participates in the internship drive. From human resources to digital marketing, social media marketing, content creation every role is available in the internships drive. The college provides some of the best Internships in terms of exposure and learning. The stipend varies from 1000-12000 depending on the number of hours to be given and the type of company. The list of companies that participates in the internship drive of Maitreyi College are: Hoemflic wegrow, webit makers, adore India, bajaj capitals and many more.

The placement opportunities are given to the last year students only. The placement rates are not very high on the college campus. 20-30% of the students get placement through the college drive. The highest package goes to 6LPA whereas the lowest one is 2.5 LPA. More than 60 companies participate in the placement drive, leading to the selection of around 150+ students. Companies like Wipro, Decathlon, Infosys visit the company for the placements. My plans after the degree are to get into the Indian armed forces as an officer.

The fees are not very high, for my B.com programme, my fees are 6,000 rupees per year. Financial assistance is available, during covid-19 also, the college issued a form to teach the students without any fee, who lost their parents during the covid pandemic. The placement opportunities are not very high, not very low. Many companies come for the placement opportunity and around 20-30% of students get placement. The highest package goes to 6LPA whereas the lowest package goes to 2.5 LPA.

The campus life is very nice at Maitreyi College. Maitreyi college has an annual fest, named Rhapsody which is organised in April. This is the biggest fest organised in the college. The library is well- established. Helping material for all the courses is available in the library. Classrooms are well furnished with proper desks and amenities. The college also offers different sports from boxing, tennis to hockey and basketball. It also conducts sports events once a year.
