I took the WBJEE exam and secured a rank of around 15000. I am from Don Bosco and i had a few seniors in this college. When i asked them about it, they said that it was one of the very best colleges. And the teachers are very enthusiastic and encouraging. Apart from that the labs are well developed and the college community is also very friendly and promotes growth. Hence i opted for this college.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course structure is very vast. It covers a broad category of subjects. First year is all the basics starting from class 11-12 material. The main subjects come in from second year on wards. The college has dedicated labs for research purposes and the college authorities are very supportive for pursuing research. Apart from that, any one can get the detailed course structure from WBUT website as the college is under WBUT.
Internships Opportunities
Our college doesn't provide internship but they can arrange for aspiring students if they approach the authorities. Like i said, they are always ready to help.
Placement Experience
The job opportunities arr very good. A lot of the top companies recruit from our college. I myself got placed in IBM. Companies like Johnson controls, tech mahindra, tcs, capegemini, kovair limited, hitachi pvt ltd, kriti, cognizant, etc came to our college this year. Out of 300 people eligible, 200 of them secured placement till the time of the review. Will increse later on.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is feasible. An amount of 40K is required per semester. Apart from that, they have a fee waiver program for the real needy people. I don't think that 40K would not be a problem for the majority of the people out there. The college fees structure is quite feasible.
Fees and Financial Aid
I haven't applied for a scholarship or loan from our college. So i can't say anything about this in detail. For more information regarding this, i would recommend talking to the college authorities for a better picture about the scholarship and loans.
Campus Life
The gender ratio is balanced. There is no such thing as gender discrimination in our college. Every body gets equal opportunities. We have workshops but that is not a very regular event. Discrimination in general is very much discouraged in our college. We tend to be one big happy family. No one shuns another person on grounds of sex, ethnicity, religion, politics. Every body respects everyone's view.
Hostel Facilities
Our college doesn't have hostel facilities. People coming from far places usually reside in PGs. The paying guest houses are quite affordable in our college area. All of them provide a safe place for freshmen to seniors. Ragging is highly discouraged.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumni network is strong and very well connected. They are one of the most helpful alumni i have ever seen. They tend to look out for the juniors and help them wherever possible. They are like our mentors and guide, guiding us through our college life. We have learnt a lot of things from them.
Exam Structure
Exams aren't a very frequent thing. We have two sets of internal exams. But we do have daily labs followed by assignments. This is quite necessary for overall growth of a student in the various courses they take up. Life in college is pretty chilled. The teachers provide only the bare minimum amount of pressure required for the development of students.
Admission
The admission was through WBJEE. I had to select my college and stream. This was on of my very first choices. After i was allocated the college, i had to report to the college and complete the rest of my admission procedure which basically consisted of filling up a form and submitting a few pictures of my self for the database.
Faculty
The faculty is one of the most well trained faculties in the city. They know what they are talking about. They try to clear every doubt that's possible in the classhours. Apart from that they are always ready to help when ever you approach them. They will never give you an unsatisfactory answer. They try very hard to put across the points necessary for a complete grip of the subject.
