FCRIT review

I had applied to around 4 colleges for the course of computer science. The admission criteria for my program was MH-CET score for the year 2016. The admission process went really smooth. There was an orientation conducted within the first week of college. It was for both parents and students. All the information about the respective program and the curriculum was discussed. Apart from that, the information regarding placement and the criteria for the same was also presented during the orientation.

I chose this particular program because I had a keen interest in computer science and because of all the opportunities that the field can provide in future. All the faculty members had a good qualifications with a master's degree and with a PhD. All the teachers were really proficient in the subjects they taught. They used various teaching methods to improve student engagement. They also scheduled guest lectures so that students could learn more about the industry standards and the way it works. The faculty used to conduct timely examinations that were a part of the university curriculum. Apart from that several class tests and mock tests were also conducted regularly to test the understanding of the student about a particular topic. The students had to take retests if they couldn't get the minimum score. Also, the faculty used to conduct extra lectures for such students to improve their understanding of the subject they taught.

I don't think the college provides any internship opportunities or probably I am not aware of the opportunities they have now. The students have to find internships on their own. Also, it becomes very hectic for students to cover up for the learning that they missed during their internship. The college is less flexible with the internships and can be a bit stressful experience for the students.

After completion of the sixth semester, the students are eligible for placements. Most commonly the companies that visit every year are TCS and LTI. The average salary offered by these companies is in the bandwidth of 3 to 5 lakhs per year. TCS digital offers a package of around 7 to 8 lakhs per year.

The college fee structure is as follows. The student has to pay a yearly tuition fee of around 1.36lpa( as per 2016) The fee hike for new admission is around 10% more than the previous year. I am not aware if any scholarship programs that the college might have provided if any I am also not sure about campus jobs and the stipend that could possibly be provided.

The college conducts 2 fests anually. One is FACES and the other is ETAMAX. They were conducted around September and February respectively. FACES is a cultural fest with various competitions and events conducted on intercollegiate level. ETAMAX is a technical fest with lots of technical competitions and workshops conducted by college students as well as professionals. The old building of the college has a library packed with all the books and resources of all the branches. All the classroms were pretty spacious with project and screens for presentation. The campus also has a sports arena for sports like badminton, football and swimming. There were a lot of clubs such as Drama, IOT, AI&ML, CSI and many other clubs particular to a department were managed by the students for the students.
