My Journey in- [FCRIT], Navi Mumbai

I had provided a list of 10 colleges, out of which I got admission into Fr. C. Rodrigues Institute of Technology, Vashi. The admission was done through a Centralized Admission Process in three rounds. The selection of students was based on their MHT CET scores. The students were given a state merit rank based on their CET scores. Each college had its own cutoff lists for specific courses based on which the selections were made. If we are allotted any college in the first round and if we wish to take admission into it, then we were requested to select the freeze status and confirm our seat by visiting the allotted college and complete the registration process. In case we do not get a satisfying college in round 1 then we can try for other rounds. So it is better to provide the list of colleges in an orderly manner starting from the best colleges, based on our marks.

I have chosen this course because I want to become a Data Scientist. In FCRIT there lies a good relationship between the teachers and students. All the faculty members are helpful and friendly. The faculty members are well educated and help us with both co-curricular as well as extracurricular activities. The teachers encourage participating in different hackathons and webinars held all around the globe. The teachers follow an effective teaching pattern. There are quizzes held daily, based on the topics covered in the lectures. Remedial lectures are also conducted every day for each subject by the teachers for the students who fail to score below 80%. The practical sessions are interactive as the teachers ask the students to present their screens and share the work performed by them. There are two internal assessments and one preliminary exam held by the college. Apart from this, tutorial tests for every subject are also conducted weekly.

The various departments of FCRIT offer internships in the fields of their expertise. The duration of the internship varies from 2 weeks to 1 year, so students can appear for the internships based on their choice. The internships which are carried out over 1 year may lead to BE/ME projects depending on the depth of the work. The specialized domains in which the Department offers internships are; Active Vibration Control, Stimulation of ultrasonic wave propagation in beam, etc. Also, TIFR provides projects for eligible students from IT and Computer Science fields.

Starting from the 6th semester, students become eligible for campus placements. Some of the reputed firms visiting this institute are; LTS, LnT, TCS, Attos, Godrej, Xorients, Jacobs, Jio, etc. The highest package offered is up to 11 lakhs per anum and an average package of 3 to 4 lakhs per anum is offered. Every year almost 70% of the students get placed into reputed firms. Even I plan to get placed in a renowned company with a good stipend in the IT sector.

The fee structure is flexible. Students are allowed to pay the fees in monthly installments. There are a number of scholarship opportunities provided to the students. The FCRIT placement cell is committed to providing quality placement to all eligible students. The institute trains and guides all the students for placements by holding various aptitude tests, seminars on personal development, etc. Every year almost 70% of the students get placed into reputed companies all over the world.

Faces is the cultural fest whereas Etamax is the technical fest conducted by the college every year. Faces is held in the odd semesters whereas Etamax is held in the even semesters. The central library is the heart of the institution aimed to support. It is the first library to have automated library resources management system in Navi Mumbai. Books, Journals, and all the other essential college amenities are available in the college store. Classrooms are well furnished and cleaned regularly. The student council manages the sports and extracurricular activites. There is a tennis court, basketball court, football turf, swimming pool, etc. Surrounding the college. Apart from this, there are various clubs run by the college seniors like Agnel Robotics club, Coders club, Agnel Sports club, Literary club, AI and Deep Learning club, etc. Students are free to join any of these clubs and showcase their talents.
