Remarks
I applied for many colleges like VJTI MUMBAI, Ramdeobaba College for engineering, YCCE ( Nagpur), and many more. I was looking for a good college with a branch of CSE/IT since I was interested in becoming a Software Engineer. I tried in many colleges but my MH-CET score was not good enough to qualify for their branches in any of these colleges (64 % in MH CET). I was belonging to OPEN Category so I was not getting any excuse in cut-off scores. I tried till 3 rounds and finally chose G.H Raisoni College of Engineering ( IT Department ). I didn't belong to any special quota so I didn't get any benefits from that. I applied to CAP and froze the spot. I visited college the next days to pay fees of the first year i.e 1,60,000 Rs ( I know it's expensive]. They were also accepting dropouts so need to fear for the factor of age in case you are older than 18. There was a separate quota for management admission. Overall it's average college[FOR CS/IT].
Course Curriculum Overview
I always wanted to be a Software Engineer so I chose the field of I.T . CSE cutoff was also high during the 3 rounds so I settled up with the IT department. Now Let's talk about the faculty: student ratio, so there are 60-80 students in a class. Normally there are 2-3 sections for each department depending upon the no. of students. But, the one who is serious can always find a good mentor and can study and acquire new skills on his/her own. Almost all the faculties have completed their Ph.D. and the rest are pursuing their Ph.D. along with teaching. Teaching methods have their own pros and cons. Since it is Autonomous Institute, the Course is updated as per the industry requirements. Some teachers are excellent and teach real-world skills and some just teach to finish the course curriculum. Overall teaching is good and self-study is more important in the engineering field. CAE and TAE are taken monthly and a final End Semester is there at the end. One can easily manage his time as there is no such pressure of exams.
Fees and Financial Aid
To be honest, the fees are highest in the first year and it decreases as you move forward, It was 1,60,000 in my first year[2019 Branch]. One can pay the fees in small parts too if required. The college fees vary if you opt for a hostel too. The Cost of a hostel for 1 year including food and living was 72,000 during my time. Now it's covid so it's helping the students to save their money. However, the college is charging a hefty amount according to the skills they are providing. We can easily learn the same skills on the Internet for free. Scholarship facilities like EBC, EWS, TFWS, etc schemes are also there. Special fees concession for SC, ST, NT students are also there. The only condition for getting a scholarship is that you should take admission from CAP and your annual income should be less than 8 lakhs. Some scholarships are also there especially for girls oo depending upon cast and family income. Campus placement for CS/IT is good(3-6 LPA).Very Very Fewer opportunities for the Rest of the branches.
Campus Life
GHRCE is the most famous college in Nagpur for its campus life and extracurricular activities. The college spends a huge amount of money for its annual event named Antaragini. Many Tech Fest, Elocution, Robo Race, etc events are always there for the enthusiastic students. Many social groups like Toastmasters are also there for public speaking. The library is very big and one can find books, novels, magazines related to each and every field right from sports, news to engineering and astronomy. The classrooms are well clean and maintained properly. A whiteboard is there and one can find recorded lectures on an app given exclusively to students. No outdoor sports are available here only indoor sports like Carrom, chess, pool, Table tennis, etc are there along with a music room. Overall Campus life is good. I wish they improve it more, Students can also join the IEEE group for updating themselves with the latest technologies. In short sports, events and groups are well managed here.
Other Applied Colleges
Ramdeobaba College of Engineering | B Tech in CSE
I was unable to get admission in CSE/ IT department of that college.
