Insights of Rajabazar Science College

The focus of the professors here is primarily research, and they encourage students to do so too. But, at the same time, the placements in our department is around 80%, although there is no proper placement cell. I got to know all this because my uncle is a professor in another department of this college. But most people do not know all this because 4-yr Btech course was started here from 2016. The admissions are strictly based on the rank in the merit list of WBJEE.

The facilities mostly focus on research, and encourage students to do so too. We have 11 professors for a batch of 36. So the faculty: student ratio is quite good. The facilities are quite highly qualified as most of them hold post-docs from various renowned institutes from all over the world. We also have faculties who have been gold medalists in IITs. So, the Faculties are actually good. However, the administration is not so good as our exams are mostly late, and we receive our results atleast 6 months after we have given the exam. Also, the exams are actually much more difficult than most other institutes.

I have done research internships under professors of our department only with no stipend.

There is no placement cell in our college. However, placements are about 80%. These come through the professors and our head of the department, who arrange for the jobs as much as they can. We do have a placement officer. However, there is not much he does. So, not having a proper placement cell is a problem here.Companies such as HPL, Linde, Berger, Technip, etc come for recruitment taking 3-4 students on an average.

There is no such thing as a campus life in our college. Students just come, study and go back. There are no clubs or any other infrastructure for any kind of social life. The professors and the administration are strictly against it. Except the time when you are not in the class, you are in the lab, working. However there are 3 canteens.
