Remarks

The start of the admission process begins wherein one has to open an account in the Mumbai University portal and apply for the course and the college preferred. I had applied for more than 10 colleges and was shortlisted for more than 8 colleges but I was only focused on getting admission to St. Andrews college as it had a good reputation and placement. The admission criteria for this program had a cut off of 78 percent for the commerce students and for science students was 62 percent. After being selected the college informs the student to reach the college on a specific date and time. The students are supposed to carry their documents as well. Then, after going through the documents the student has to pay the fees for the first year via online or offline payment. I would say personally it was a smooth process without any interference and proper support from the staff in the college.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I chose this course to become a good Marketing manager in future. The faculty and student ratio is 1 teacher for 120 students. The faculty members were well qualified and well versed in communicating with the students. Some teachers PhD as well. The teaching method was good as there was a regular conversation between the teacher and the students and at each term exam before the internals, there was a presentation that was to be done by the students for marks. Which actually has helped each student to improve on their own presentation skills. There was a whiteboard and projector as well to teach properly. The term exams were on time after a month of the start of 1st term we would have our internals for 20 marks and 5 marks presentation. And after 2 months we would have our final exams for 75 marks. The exams were good for those who studied and bad for those who didn't. The exam paper had questions which they taught in the class and some questions which really made us think.

Placement Experience

4

The students are eligible for campus placements only after clearing their 5th semester examination and should not have any pending ATKT. There were many companies like Accenture, Liz Lyn, and many more which offered placement for finance and marketing students respectively. Each company would offer a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 3 to 5. The minimum package offered is between 15,000 and the maximum is around 50,000 per month. The percentage of students getting placements of more than 60 percent. My plan was clear that I would be doing mab in marketing after completing my graduation. While studying in my degree college I was preparing for my cet i.e. common entrance exam for MBA.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees structure had the hike policy. At the start of our 1st year, we had to pay approx 15,700 and it increased every year around 500 to 600 rupees. The fees included some unwanted charges like miscellaneous fees which no one had clue about and gymkhana fees which was mostly not used by any of our classmates so it was a waste of money. The cost of the study was much higher than I expected it to be. The price should have been a bit lower. There were scholarships provided by the college and financial assistance only to people with really deep problems. This program has campus placement but personally, I didn't attend it due to my personal reason. But some of my friends had attended and grabbed 20,000 to 30,000 packages.

Campus Life

3.5

The college life for me personally was not that good as I had to travel a lot and the 75 percent attendance rule was really hectic. I had to maintain it every year but I sometimes had really good times during the college fest named Mosaic which usually happens in November. There's only one fest and one traditional day that happens in this college. The college library looks good and is clean, there is the availability of all types of books excluding self help books which are really rare to find in the library. There are well maintained classrooms with proper benches and fans and tube lights. There are cameras in every classroom. There is much importance given to sports like football, basketball and volleyball. There is interclass football that happens every year in October. The st. Andrews college has social groups on Instagram and Facebook run by the students where the promotion of activities run the college are reached out to the people.

Placement Experience:

Placement cell is quite good. Students are eligible for placement in their last semester of course. There are many great companies that come like JP MORGAN, EY, KPMG. Average package of the college is 5-6 lacs but there are high packages according to the skills of the student. I'd like to go for master's after BMS. Different kind of roles are there for students to apply according to their interests in all the fields like finance, marketing, HR, consulting. There is training provided by the college for placemens and there is personal training for individual company interviews if required by students.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Honestly, the course alone can't prepare you for real world applications. It's important to learn some skills before getting into job market. The course is pretty theory based and doesn't have a practical approach. The only skill thing that college helps with is public speaking through presentations. The teaching methods are also very much traditional type. So it's better to learn some extra skills and get experience, that can help you get your ideal job.
