Entrance Preview

Through GATE 2016, Got 567 score. I opted it because it is only the first institute in Asia which is totally focussed towards producing Scientists & Researchers.

Internships Opportunities

No, they strictly ban us to go for outside college Internship. Since This institute is under the Indian Space Research Organisation under Department of Space, India is fully focussed towards preparing researchers and scientists who'll work for India. For Internship we can go on to work in any of the ISRO centres in India just in Holidays.

Placement Experience

2.5

Since this Institute is focussed on producing Scientists, so some students more than 60 out of 120 after completing B.Tech from here on, ISRO absorbs them and other got to go for higher studies and research. Toppers of Aerospace department have given the opportunity to go for California Technology on the funding of Govt. of India. For M.Tech students, they go for PhD since the referral from here on is very good.

College Events

3.5

A lot of festivals and events celebrated in the college like on Onam huge festival of Kerala so a lot of competition organised every year like Pookalam (Rangoli of flower), Tug of wars etc. Dhanak is huge event of this college which has been organised by B.Tech students. This is one of largest events in Kerala in which this year Sunburn Came and lot of Bands came to perform.

Fee Structure And Facilities

For B.Tech full fee waiver for both tuition and fooding lodging if they satisfy minimum eligibility criterion of percentage like above 75% for General category, 65 for OBC and 55 for SC/ST in there semester exams otherwise they have to pay Rs 48000 per semester for everything so students study hard here. For M.Tech nominal fees of Rs 19500 per semester .

Campus Life

4.5

College life is very nice gentle but lot of south people weather kannada, malyali, telugu, and tamil. The ratio for north girls is less here. Extracurricular activities is very nice here. Every facility available here. You can go on to Gym also. Nice greenish College. Labs are well furnished & well equipped.

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostel is best in comparision to older IIT's and some of newer IIT's. M.tech has been provided single seater in second semester & double seater. Mess food is very good for south people because it is South india but all in all ok for north people also.

Exam Structure

Since you have to study regularly so exams are not the tough task since the paper was based on whatever taught in the class and the problems you have to work from the books which is highely unassessible. Numericals are tough in the exams but if you are good at your concept then its easy for you.

Admission

After GATE exam, you have to apply the form of IIST, then they'll shortlist for the interview/written test on the basis of scorecard & number of Application. After qualifying the interview, they'll give the admission to different departments based on priority set by you at the time of Application.

Faculty

3.5

The faculties here are of high Profile. For my specialisation there are only two faculties present in the college. One is Basudev Ghosh and other one is Chinmoy Saha who are the best in their own subjects. So some topics of the curriculum both of them covered simultaneously in which they are expert of. For some topics in which they called the professors of other reputed institute and also scientists of ISRO.

Placements are mostly conducted with AMRITA school of pharmacy, and managed by the CIR team (They take care to develop and mould students from 1st semester in aptitude, English and soft skills). The package is, on average, between 3.5 - 5 LPA. The centre also has an opportunity to join back as JRF/PhD.
