IIST Dream college For Space Enthusiasts

The curriculam prepare us well for the real world application as we implements our learning in labs. We also have a SSpace lab where Cubesats are bulid from scratch and launches to the space. We have hand on experience in making a satellite.

Most of the people do the internship in different centers of ISRO as it is easily approachable for us. Some of the faculties are Scientists at ISRO. ISRO internship does not offer stipend. There are different Options like Texas Intruments (offers 60k a month), Accenture (offers 50k a month) etc.

Most of the Students are being absorbed by ISRO. The rest are palced in different companies in Campus Placements. Almost 90% got palcement and some of them opt for higher studies. The companies like Dhruva Aerospace, Texas Intruments, Mercedes Benz, Bellatrix Aeroapce, CDAC, DRDO, ISRO, Intel, Mathworks, Skyroot Aerospace, Bosch, Mahindra, Agnikul Cosmos, SatSure etc. visit for Campus Plecement. The average is 11 LPA. The Highest would be 45 LPA. My plan is either getting placed in ISRO or go for higher studies in Aerospace Engineering.

Admission fee is 500. Development fee is 1000. Institute Security deposit is 5000. Tution Fee is 125000. Medical and insaurance fee is 4000. Library fee is 2000. Examination fee is 1000. Registration fee is 200. Hostel establishment charge is 10000. Hostel Rent is 6000. Electricity and water charge is 750. I don't have any scholarship and I have to pay 76700 per semester, doesn't include the mess fee. If you are OBC and annual income is less than 5 LPA the the tution fee will be 20850. If you are SC/ST and annual income is less than 8 LPA then the tution fee is Nil. If you are OBC and annual income is less than 1 LPA then also tution fee is Nil. Other fees are as usual for everyone. If you are scoring more than 9 gpa and you does not have any scholarship then you will get a scholarship of 50% on tution fee.

The name of Annual Technical fest is Conscientia which is held in month of October every year. The name of Annual Cultural fest is Dhanak which is held in month of March every year. There are almost 1.25 lakh books in the Library and almost 5000 e-jounals. Any student can access any book easily. AC Classrooms are provided with Projector and speakers. The sports facilities are not that good. We have a Basketball, a Vollyball and a Football ground. We have a wooden floor Badminton court and 4 other badminton courts. We have alot of clubs like AI Club, Physics Club, Astrophysics club, Aero Club,Robo club, Music club, Dance Club, Yoga club, Anime Manga Club, Drama Club, Nirman Club, Debate Club etc.

There are double and tripple sharing rooms. The rooms are provided with fan, Almirah, Bedside table, Study table with drawers, Chair, Rack etc. The food is good but it tastes same every day. You won't like the food after 2 months. Hostel rent is 6000 per year and Hostel Establishment Fee is 10000 per year. The college is fully residential and no one is allowed to stay outside the college.

I have qualified Jee Advance. I have applied for IITs and I got IIT Bhubneshwar, Metallurgy in 2nd round. But I like Space Science from my childhood, So I opt for Aerospace Engineering in IIST over Metallurgy in IIT. It is really easy to ISRO being an IISTian. I have applied for ISI but I was not qualified by 2 marks. For admission in IIST, You have to qualified Jee Advance. On the basis of your Jee Advance Score IIST conduct their own Councelling for their different courses. For my year 2022, Jee Advance was bit tough and cutoff was 20%.

Faculty to Student ratio is 1:9 which is really good as compared to other colleges. The faculties are really friendly with everyone. You can go to their room for any doubt during the working hours and they even help you on chats regarding doubts. The Exam Pattern and Marking system: Midsem - 30 Internal - 20 Endsem - 50 The internal includes the class tests, Assignments, Projects etc. The exams are difficult and Some of people even fails to clear the course.
