Remarks

International exposure is missing for PGP-DM programme. While other courses are accredited by AMBA, PGP-DM is not. The institute may take new initiative in research and consulting in development sector.

Entrance Preview

CAT Its a executive level programme and best suited for me without compromising my job. The institute has been ranked by many agencies as top 5 institute and has been accredited by MBA.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Course curriculum is well structured and defined. Rigorous study is ensured through class room participation, case studies, analysis, presentations and book reading. The Book reading is one of the unique concept adopted by the institute, where each group of the class must complete one book related to the course and present it in the class. The learning are shared in the class through book reading presentation in front of the whole class and invigilators, followed by questionnaire sessions. Daily reflection sessions are conducted early morning before the start of formal classes for the day, where learning of the previous day is reflected, discussed in the classroom among the peer groups. Specializations available as per industry requirements in present trend. Like CSR, Monitoring and Evaluation, Project Management.

Internships Opportunities

Since its an executive programme and the participants are already on job with their respective organisations, internship is not applicable here. The better practice that SPJIMR has adopted is that reflecting the learning and takeaways of each sessions in their organisations to strive towards professional leadership. Each participant is expected to share his/her experience in the class room that hoe he/she implemented/ executed the learning of last session in her/his organisation.

Placement Experience

1.5

This is one of the grey area which can be explored by the institute. Since all the students are on job, while perusing the course, placement may not be a good practice. But still there are some students who are not in job or left their jobs during the course or looking for a change, may submit an undertaking of NOC from them as well as their organisation, stating the intentions. The institute in such case may conduct pre-placement talks and invite organisations for lateral placement of those students.

College Events

3.5

Regular events, quizzes, workshops, seminars, industry events, guest classes by industry leaders are common at SPJIMR. Recently the college won strategy and innovation quiz at Harvard Business School and the participants were felicitated by Professor Michel Porter.

Campus Life

3.5

Campus life is happening and alive. The whole campus is green. There is an Ayurveda garden inside the campus and a small sanctuary. SPJIMR has maintained gender balance in all its course. In fact in our batch, there were more than 50% girls as participants. There are Gym, computer lab, library, trading lab, finance lab, medical facilities and doctor-on-call facilities available inside the campus for 24 hours.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

The food of the mess is healthy hygienic as well as best for the pocket. In Mumbai, if you get descent homely food from mess of Rs 50/- what do you expect more? There are Cafeterias inside the campus and outside there are many eating joints, restaurants available for food lovers.

Alumni/Alumna

We have just been associated to the alumni network. Some notable alumni have become successful entrepreneurs, Business leaders across the world.

Exam Structure

Continuous and comprehensive evaluation conducted through classroom participation, group work, assignments followed by term end examinations. One has to attain all the sessions, classes, presentation as well as group work. To complete the assessment and evaluation process project work is mandatory with presentation. Project work is research based and guided by the mentor and internal faculty. The research proposal, evaluation of proposal, research study and final research thesis are guided by internally assigned faculties.

Admission

Admission process was based on application essay and personal Interview followed by career assessment. Since the course is sponsored by TATA Trusts, one can apply for scholarship. Based on the application, profile and financial requirement of the candidate, the institute provides scholarships to the needy students. The process of application is easy and user friendly.

Faculty

4

Both in-house and external faculties are excellent. Although faculty effectiveness is assesses through regular feedback from students, more external faculties may be invited from institutes like IRMA, XIMB, TISS as subject experts. Finance area needs more industry-specific experts, clubbed with experienced in-house faculties.

Overall, my journey with the ACACS was pretty great. I learned a lot, made a lot of friends, made connections, etc. Infrastructure was just okay, furniture is old school, though. But the students and people around here were very accommodating. Campus life was awesome, social life was great, cultural, and gender diversity marks another distinguishing feature of our college.

Students with a valid graduation degree with at least 50% marks can apply to the PGDM program. Admissions are granted here on the basis of marks in the entrance exam and performance GDPI rounds. The overall entire admission process was pretty smooth.

Remarks:

College management is highly supportive of student needs. The management listens to student issues and tries to solve it with proper thinking and strategy. The college and the composition, though is extremely dynamic and diverse, students live together peacefully in harmony, supporting and helping each other whenever needed. Though being it's initial stages of setup, the college faces certain issues with placements and internships, but slowly with every batchs learnings, these are also being cured. This ensures that students are always on their toes and ready to take on challenges.
