Remarks
I have applied for DU colleges and in IPU in case of backup. Yes, I have availed OBC non-creamy quota for my admission in BCom Hons. The admission criteria was, as I got myself enrolled for the course in the first cut off itself so for OBC candidates first cut off was 94% therefore, I grabbed the opportunity at first hand. The minimum age for the course was above 17 I guess mainly they were looking for a candidate who's having maths & have atleast 50% marks secured in it in 12th to get into BCom Hons. This was the main criteria for admission. So, after the admission, there was an Orientation programme for the first year & that session was really great, we get to know more about our college culture, its societies, clubs & the things we were not aware of earlier. In toto, it was really informative for all of us.
Course Curriculum Overview
I've chosen BCom Hons because I have an interest in Commerce & Accounting field so here I will get a good exposure & knowledge about these subjects. Further, I want to pursue MBA so Bcom hons. will definitely help me to proceed ahead with a good knowledge of the subjects. The ratio of teachers & students is around 1:9. Majority of the faculty members are PHD holders & the way they teach is understandable as now classes are online still our teachers make sure that we are understanding all that they are teaching. The semester exams are held 2 times a year once in December then in May. They are moderately difficult to pass.
Internships Opportunities
About college internships, I don't know as I have never applied to those. I do it through Internshala. Moreover, what I have heard from my friends is that they provide good internships so I will apply to them this year.
Placement Experience
3rd years are eligible for the campus placement. Companies visited are Fincart, Larsen & Toubro, Digiversal & many good companies. The maximum package is 6.5 lakhs & minimum 2 lakhs they are providing. I am planning to pursue MBA further as now I am preparing for CAT so that I can convert it into a good B School.
Fees and Financial Aid
Our fees for the course is 16000 for one year. Yes, college is providing financial assistance to the students who are financially unstable & providing scholarship to students who scored above 95% in their 12th. This was the criteria for the scholarship last year. Companies also visit the college for internships interviews & get the candidates selected thereon.
Campus Life
Though I am not from Delhi so I've never attended any night fests but yes the fests in the daytime including Commission (Commerce department fest) & Diwali Mela as well as fests conducted by NSS are really very enjoyable. I miss attending these fests as now everything is on the screen only not that much enjoyment as earlier. I don't visit the library often so, about journals have no idea, got to visit only for my course books & that also rarely. I have participated once in Sports Meet for kho kho, though first 2 competitions we've won but lost in the 3rd round after all that matters the most that how'd you enjoyed what you are doing. I must say in the race of Infrastructure, Daulatram lags behind. Classrooms are not really comfortable to sit & attend continuous 2 classes, no AC, no comfortable chairs nothing! Yes, I am part of the NSS group mainly for promoting social issues & helping the poor this group is for.
