Entrance Preview

Common Kerala Entrance Examination, my rank was 3100 and I also qualified in the Aptitude exam for Architecture. Chose the college because it is the most prestigious government college in Kerala in engineering, has excellent faulty and facilities.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

It is a well structured course with proper focus on the fundamentals of architecture and on the various aspects related to architecture without limiting to just designing. We had course on history, building materials and construction, acoustics, climatology, interior designing, general drawing, conservation to get an overall understanding of the course.

Internships Opportunities

No, it did not provide internship at the time. Today they are inviting more and more passed out students to come and join as temporary teaching faculty. I do not have a clue about the stipend offered but I am assuming it should be close to 20k.

Placement Experience

5

Architecture students do not have placements but every other engineering course had placements. Some of the top most companies come every year to the college and number of placements are huge. Offers used to range from 2 lakh back then which must have definitely gone up now.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Cheapest fee structure one can imagine. We were given stationary supplies such as butter paper and design sheets on a regular basis and our fees came to just 2500 per year. Exam fees too was nominal. For the semester based courses the fee usually came to 1800 per semester.

Campus Life

5

Campus life was a fun filled one with a good balance between academics, sports, festivals, arts and politics. People from diverse backgrounds, states, languages, social strata studied and co-existed in harmony. There was no gender bias and the girls had as much freedom and fun as the boys.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

Hostel was excellent and mess food shifted between average and good. There was variety though. Rooms were on a sharing basis with 3-4 people in each based on the size of the room. Rent and mess bill came upto 1500 every month. There were a lot of wings and each corridor had a proper distribution of facilities such as bathrooms and washbasins to meet the population.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni could be stronger. There is not a reach out program other than a facebook page to join. I think people have lost touch over the years.

Exam Structure

We had internals for our assignments, which was every other week and sessional exams every quarter and finally the year end exam. Yes, the written, model and drawing assignments would often overlap and resulted in several sleepless nights. In a way it trains you for the corporate world out there, whether its healthy or not is debatable.

Faculty

4

There were some excellent professors who went an extra mile to educate and guide us. Like any other government college we also had our share of the not so good professors who gave us a tough time with internal scores. Internals play a large part in our annual result calculations amounting to 70% of the total. So it was make or break for us.

As I'm a first year student I don't know much about placements but I think it starts by 8th sem for b arch students. Placements for barch are low compare to btech. But as this is a prestigious institution the best firms come here and there is a unit called CGPU for helping students regarding placements here.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I like architecture because of its creatove and practicality. And in pur college they are making sure of combining those two together. Their teaching methods are good for me because i am learning so much. But not for everyone they are sl friendly in outside i think if they are so friendly in college . The students might like the letures more. The jury and exams are mostly collide that is a not good thing for us. They are making sure of the real world works so that we can actually survive after the college.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Im a passionate student architect. From childhood, I had this dream of becoming a creator. So I chose this course. There is a good ratio of faculty student ratio in the private colleges all over india. I'm not sure about the teaching method because this is more like a self learning course. But faculties are also helpful most of the time. Jury subjects are tougher than written examinations.

Admission here is given on the basis of rank secured in NATA. With my rank I cleared the cutoff in general category in third round. I want my college to be near my home. So I can travel daily from my home. With my rank this was the best option I was getting and hence I opted for this.

Remarks:

Ours is a National College. People from different background from different parts of india do come to study in college.I can't say that The Faculty in our College is too good. But they are quite okay. The faculties of the first year Maths are too poor. Most of them are ADHOC. Some Faculty treat the students as their own children, being liberal to them, while some at the same time just know how to teach, not to mingle with the students. Rest all branches dont have that much placement opportunity as compared to CSE. Positive 1.One of the biggest quality is the exposure that a student gets while studying in this college. The lectures are of high standards and the professors are of international demand. 2.An another good quality is the placement that we get from this college.people from across Kerala always praise the high quality of placements that we get in this college Negative 1.The lecture classes are very much one way, rather than being more interactive 2.Mosquito in some hostels
