Remarks
If I start from scratch then I say it was not on my priority list, because I was expecting a Government college because I had given JEE main in 2018 but when I got my result I didn't get enough score to apply for any Government college, so from then I started searching a good private college, then I heard about the Chandigarh University, I did some research on university about the placement, fee structure, and study pattern and I found that this university is charging somewhere less fee for my desired branch and the placements were good. After that, I visited the university in July and took admission in automobile engineering. There is an entrance exam named CU-CET which is for those students who scholarships irrespective of their marks in 12th, based on the rank a student get in this exam he will get a scholarship accordingly and this is not mandatory, we can take admission without giving this exam also. Admissions start every year in the month of May and go till the august end. If someone says why this university then I would say that somewhere this university is ahead of other universities in terms of curriculum, faculty, placements, etc. The admission process is very easy you need one Aadhar card along with your 10th and 12th mark sheets and that's it done.
Course Curriculum Overview
I opted for this course because I had a passion for cars and I want to know more about it so I opted for this stream. The course curriculum is relevant to your stream and the faculties are very well educated and teach very effectively. The number of students in the university is somewhere around 30000 and the number of faculties is around 3000. Faculties are highly educated and even some are from IIT's. The way of teaching is very effective and whether it is offline or online. We have two monthly tests that they call MSTs and after these two tests there is a final exam and the exams are regular there is no delay of any kind in the exams even in the corona period. The level of exam is easy to moderate if you study well you will pass definitely it is not rocket science to pass the exam in this university, even below-average students got very good marks in the finals.
Placement Experience
If I talk about placements then I can say that students of Computer science engineering will get better job offers than any other stream. Placements of computer science engineering students are good and the number is high. Even students from the mechanical stream are placed but not in a core company and also the package is very low around 4 to 5 lakh with an in-hand salary of around 18000. Students from the 6th semesters will be eligible for the placements from a computer science background and those from the other streams will get eligible for the campus placements from the 7th semester onwards. There is a number of companies that come for campus placements like Cognizant, Accenture, Royal Enfield, Mahindra, MG, Google, Microsoft, and many more. Even some students will get more than one offer from various companies. The highest package offered is around 35LPA to a CSE student and the lowest package is around 3.5LPA. As I haven't got any placements from the college so I will try for walk-in interviews.
Fee Structure And Facilities
When I took admission the fee per semester of engineering was 70000 but now the fee is 80000 for engineering branches if I exclude BE CSE with IBM. So fee increases from time to time and there are nota fix duration like at what time the fee will increases. On average If I talk about engineering then it would cost around 5,60,000 only for the academic fee and 3,25,000 for a hostel for 4 years then by taking all the expenditure into account it goes around 10 lakh for the complete study and stay for engineering courses. Scholarships are provided to either SC or ST students and to those students who got a good rank in CU-CET rank. University also helps in providing financial assistance to the students who can't afford their studies by helping in getting study loans. I haven't got any placement because there is a special fee you have to pay at the end of the 6th semester to sit in the campus placements because I haven't paid any fee so they didn't allow me to sit in the placements. But my friends are placed right now in various companies like Cognizant, Accenture, and many more. The package starts from 4 lakh and goes from 30 to 35 LPA depending on the company. The chances of getting campus placements are more to the students of the CSE branch and Hotel Management.
Campus Life
Campus life at CU is very good everything is available there, the whole campus is wifi enabled. The major fest of the university is named CU FEST which held every year in the month of February and other events are like Aaghaaz and many more like these. There are two types of libraries: digital library and normal library. You will get everything in the library like books, newspapers, journals, etc. All classrooms have fans, a whiteboard, and projectors.Clubs are also there anyone can join any club and have to perform various tasks under various groups. For the sports lovers, there is a sports complex where you can find everything like a badminton court, football, and cricket ground and basketball court, etc. In the end, I can say that life at CU is good but there are a lot of restrictions for the students like being on time to get attendance, wear your ID card during campus hours, etc. Rest everything is good at CU.
