Remarks

St. Xavier's College is considered to be the best for students studying in the field of humanities or arts or media. That's how the word about this college is circulated. So like any other student and that too living in Mumbai, I found St. Xavier's to be the best option. The teaching staff as well visiting professors for the BMM course of St. Xavier's are phenomenal. They are industry professionals or the former ones, and hence, students get to learn a lot. Moreover, the professors encourage more learning and applying the knowledge acquired rather than just studying. The college has various other seminars like foreign diplomats do show up on these seminars, the TATA Literature Festival's inauguration programme is held in the college. In fact, the college is teeming with such interesting stuff, and you may get learn things over here pretty unexpectedly.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The first year of the course curriculum includes subjects like fundamentals of mass media, History of ideas, radio and tv, economics, etc. The student may find it pretty unexpectable to have a curriculum that doesn't restrict the required reading to certain books. In the first year itself, the students will get to know that mass media is not only about creating content or in the tv and film industry or journalism. With subjects like history of ideas and management, marketing, theory of media, advertising in the second year; students will realise the importance of critical as well as creative thinking. The professors encourage this through the various topics that they cover in these subjects.

Placement Experience

3.5

Usually, campus placements are from the third year of under graduation, but internships or even job options are available before that. Through the guidance of the professors or also listening to your peers, you may get to appear as an intern at small companies. Any kind of internship that may be, with small works, but what will matter is that students get an insight into the general functioning of an organization.

Fees and Financial Aid

To get into college for first year a candidate has to attempt the entrance test that the college has. This test includes basic aptitude questions and current affairs questions. The fees are in the 30000 rs to 36000 rs, yearly. Moreover being from St. Xavier's many companies provide internships, students get these internship messages on their class Whatsapp groups. Even the professors readily give suggestions. Plus the student association is excellent for any type of assistance for the students. There is also a placement cell for jobs. There is a foreign exchange department which avails students of an exchange Programme in foreign universities.

Campus Life

3.5

There are various opportunities in the fests or the clubs in the college. Right from managing the backstage or organising things or security stuff or making posters, etc being a part of the process makes you more eloquent and kind of mingle with people. Being in St. Xavier's has its own perks that you don't you may bump into someone and get an opportunity to know something about enhancing your skills or career or learning process

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course. It helped me in my personality building and also I learned new things like- Video and photo editing, handling cameras, communication skills, Acting, Advertisement writing and shooting, and many more. Class strength is good as they allow 25-30 students for one course. Faculties were too supportive and masters of their own fields. They take 2 internals and 1 final exam at the end of the semester which is of 6 months.

No bad remark as such everything is either excellent or at a average but most of the facilities are great . The college maintains a standard and teaches its students not only academics but also a standard of living and facing problems that are occurring or may occur later in life.
