GATE 73 Rank I opted because it is one of the premier Institute in India for higher study in the field of science (M Tech.) with getting scholarship.

Course structure was excellent in all subjects for M Tech in Earth and Environmental Sciences. Electives had to be chosen from other Department also as I opted Human resource management as one of my elective from outside the Department of Geology and Geophysics. Apart from course, compulsory training programmes in different Departments was also organised as I was enrolled for MATLAB and Basic statistics.

For M.Tech. in Earth and Environmental Sciences, there was no internship during my time. But some were went to Germany for several months availing DAAD scholarship. But after first year, each one had to carried out a project work under the supervision of one potential Professor in the Department.

During my time, the job opportunities was not so good due to the effect of global economic melt down. How ever two of my classmates got placed during the final year.

Two major events were celebrated during our time i.e. Spring fest- a cultural fest and Kshitij- a tech fest. Apart from that several other events were celebrated like annual sports event, several Departmental functions etc.

Yes feasible during my time. One advantage for me (M Tech.) that I was spending my scholarship money towards semester fee and other things. so not worried at all about college fees.

Yes I availed study loan (to buy laptop) from PNB bank located inside the Institute campus.

Campus life was marvelous. I really enjoyed my life a IIT KGP. It was one of the mesmerizing period of my life with loads of memories inside kept for the rest of my life. I got some close friends from all over India during that time. Canteens and juice centers were opened at night so at 3 am also guys were making chill there. Gender ratio or equality was not so good and there is a big difference in that probably 1:7 for girls:boys Mostly B Tech students were organizing sports, robotics, etc. However Departmental events were organized by all and all are participated mainly sports.

I was staying at MMM hall of residence. It is one of the best hostel during my time. Rooms allotted on sharing basis, per room two students. Rooms are neat and clean. Mess food was really healthy and nutritious. It served two times meal, one time breakfast and one time snacks.

Exam structure was very good, one semester for six months. Some professors were carrying out surprise test also. Lab work was also good on weekly basis.

Highly qualified and enthusiastic to teach.
