Remarks
I was a part of Jai hind College since 11th grade. The various clubs and festivals were surely intriguing. It has a very good reputation and academically also the college had a very good record. The infrastructure is very good and it is located in a very good location. The facilities it provided was also really great. Many classrooms were air-conditioned along with the library and the lab equipments were really good. They have three computer labs one of which is made in association with HP(Hewlett Packard). Various clubs are catering to the different interests of different students. You will surely find one that suits you. It's located very close to Churchgate Railway station. The campus and crowd are also good. The admissions process was also considerably smooth. They gave timings and had mentioned all the documents required in advance and had both teacher and student volunteers guide us through the process. We could ask the student volunteers about the course we were enrolling in.
Course Curriculum Overview
IT is a field with a very great scope so I chose this course. The curriculum is very good with covering all major topics like web development, app development, Big data, Artificial intelligence, Cloud computing, Python, Java, etc. Over the course of 3 years, there are 6 semesters. 2 semesters each year. There are around 55 students in the class and the class is divided into 2 batches for practicals. Each subject has a practical and since IT is a demanding course, there is a practice for every theory that you learn in the lecture. All faculties have a Master's Degree or above which is clearly mentioned on the college website. The college is 6 days per week working even on Saturdays. Each semester has 5 subjects(theory + practical). The exams are conducted throughout the semester in three phases. First is CA1(continuous assessment 1) which is a 20 marks test. It is mostly a written test. Next is CA2 which is either a project or presentation of 20 marks and then final written exams of 60 mark.
Placement Experience
For the IT department, there is a specific placement cell. In the third year which is the final year, companies reach out to the college and throughout the placement cell, the students are notified of the various companies. Big companies come for placement at Jai Hind. There is TCS with an annual package of 2.5LPA, Infosys with 1.5LPA, Wipro with 2.25LPA, LTI with 2.5LPA, EY with 3.5LPA, Mahindra with 2.2LPA, DE Shaw with 7.5LPA, etc
Fees and Financial Aid
Since this course is unaided, the fees are higher than most other courses in the college. The admission fees of this course are roughly Rs 25000. This includes the cost of lab maintenance, exams, infrastructure maintenance, library and other such stuff. The fees need to be paid in whole but due to the Coronavirus, they allowed students to pay the fees in instalments. Otherwise, the payment always has to be done in full. The modes used for payment were a Demand draft and Online payment.
Campus Life
Jai Hind College has one of the most happening campuses with some of the other college fest going on throughout the year. We have tons and tons of events happening such as career fairs, sports tournaments, cultural fears, tech fears and much more. The campus is very lively and energetic and you'll experience that as soon as you enter the gates of Jai Hind. Tech Club, Social and Dramatic Union (SDU) for performing arts, Gymkhana for sports, Entrepreneurship cell, English Club, Hindi club, Sindhi club, etc
