Remarks

Professors from this college are well qualified and are of great knowledge. Apart from academics, students can take part in many extra-curricular activities like Clubs, Sports, Workshops, Art, etc. I would like to join this college because of the reputation of its Mechanical department. However, the curriculum and examination pattern can be improved. Admission will take place on the basis of JEE mains results and I applied through JOSAA online portal website.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I showed some early interest in working in the industries and the working of machines and its design. I thought this would be an ideal platform for me to understand more about mechanical and production engineering principles. Male to female ratio of students is 5:1. Most of the Professors have atleast a PhD degree in their relevant field of work. The standard of the exams are difficult and students need to study hard in order to score decent grades. For each semester, there will 2 Internal exams (Test 1 and Test 2) and 2 assignments that add up to 50 marks. The rest of the 50 marks is obtained in the End Semester exam. Each semester will take a period of 3.5 - 4 months.

Placement Experience

2

As mentioned before, On-campus jobs are very low in this situation, but if you want to join in the IT field, this institution is a perfect match for you. Most students prefer to go to higher studies abroad after this education, as this institution is well known worldwide. The salary package offered in the campus placements is very decent for a Fresher and often the best salary package will be from Computer Science course. Students are eligible to register for placements from their 7th semester. Some companies like Goldman Sachs, Tata motors, Yamaha visited but they made very few or no offers for the students. My plan is to go for higher studies (MSc) in mechanical engineering at reputed universities.

College Events

Tathva (Monsoon semester) and Raagam (Winter Semester) are two big tech fest that will take place every year in the college. Students from many colleges will come to participate in the activities and workshops. The Library is one of the old libraries among the NITs, but the new addition digital library is an improvised modern way for the students to gain knowledge with high speed internet. As mentioned before, there is a good opportunities for the students to participate in sports, clubs, website, etc. The classrooms are quite modern for learning with required screen projector, blackboard and comfortable chairs to study.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure will be based on the central government policy as the institution is a central government institution. Scholarships and financial assistance is not possible for undergraduate or Bachelor students, but Graduate students or PG students, PhD students will get a stipend for every month. On-campus jobs are very low in this situation, but if you want to join in the IT field, this institution is a perfect match for you.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Hostel and Rooms will differ for each year of study. Mostly, the facility gets better with every academic year. 1st year - 2 people in a room, 2nd year - 2 people in a room (bigger room), 3rd year - 4 people in a room (more spacious room), 4th year - single room (spacious for one). You can find different type of Messes around, where you can find different type of food available. Also, the meal quality is good on weekdays and below average on the weekends. Registration process for the hostels are simple and a offline process done inside the campus.

Admission

No Group Discussion or Personal Interview for the admission process. Candidates need to apply online through Josaa portal with the JEE mains mark. Candidates need to fill in their choices of the course they like to study.

The placement here is top notch. This year in my campus the highest CTC offered was 56.5lpa by PALOALTO. Placements process is centralised at coimbatore though. Students are eligible for campus placements from third year or s5. Average package in computing department ranges from 10-12lpa. My plans after degree is to pursue MS: opportunities of which are provided by the college itself. In computing department almost 90% of the students have been placed according to the seniors I talked to. However it is lower in other streams.

Civil engineering is a course with least placement in every engineering colleges. Students are placed during their fourth year in college. Sobha Constructions Ltd is one of the main companies that visits college. 200000rupees package is the average package offered. Les than 25 percent civil engineers get placed. I plan to prepare for GATE exam and pursue more in this course.
