Udoy Sankar Bhattacharjee's Review On Gauhati University - [GU], Guwahati

My admission was through CEE exam whose Counselling process is automated & we just give college preferences. Then according to ranks we are allotted to different colleges in Assam. So I was allotted to this Institution. Some other factors are:-1. Guwahati is a beautiful city with a lot of professional exposure.2. Gauhati University is the topmost state-owned University in Assam. 3. The campus is beautiful with lush green environment.4. The professors are always reachable & guide us through any difficult situation we face.All in all I'm satisfied to have joined GUIST.

The Course curriculum is well designed & distributed with constant improvisation adopted from AICTE as and when required. Academics is good with highly educated faculties. All of them have a PhD degree with specialisation in various topics like Signal Processing, development with Python etc. Teachers mostly use ppt slides to take lectures & also share them with us. Teaching methods are well off. Exams are timely taken & are moderate to pass.

Placements are not as good as other colleges, rather the studies are better than the others. Most of the people opt for higher studies & among the rest, last year 90% got placed in companies like Wipro, TCS, Indian Oil, M&M, and some other companies either through the placement cell or direct interviews. As I know, highest salary was 12lakhs per annum(CSE) & lowest was around 3.5lakhs PA(ECE) & average salary was around 4.5lakhs-6lakhs(actual figure unknown).

Life at the campus is pretty good. Students roam around the entire campus anywhere & everywhere. The social life is also good. Every people is accessible. Drama clubs, literary clubs, student's union, sports club etc are there. I don't know about Entrepreneurship club though. I joined this year so I have less data. But as I go for on-campus studies, I'll know better. But all in all the facilities for extra-curricular activities are well off.

Infrastructure of the campus is very beautiful with lush green flora. Campus has a Bank, Hospital, Post-Office, Huge Library, 2-3 grounds, cafeteria with good food, Gymkhana & a lot more to make the students feel pampered. The wifi range may not be found everywhere, but in the university buildings only. Labs haven't opened till now because of Covid, but as per seniors' review, the labs are equipped enough with latest equipments. The college was inaugurated in the university campus on 2009 and it's comparatively new, and so it's well maintained.
