IIM Amritsar - Worth your time and effort

It was one of the forerunners in the baby IIMs and the PR team was very active on Pagalguy. The faculty would be coming from IIM Kozhikode which was very reassuring. I preferred it over other babies IIMs due to the location as well. Some other IIMs were in not-so-attractive cities. IIM Vizag and Nagpur were still preferred over Amritsar back then because of the locations and their publicity on Pagalguy.

Course curriculum mimicked IIM Kozhikode and hence was one of the best in the country. Faculty were nationally reputed academia. As it was a new institute we had no permanent staff but we do now (in 2021). The term exams were tough but the evaluation could have been much better as it felt a bit lenient.

I have worked in the Education sector in a firm called Catking in Mumbai. The internship was very helpful as it was a real-time business development experience and the stipend was an attractive figure which improved the stakes of our final placement.

Placements are one of the attractive features of IIM Amritsar. Near 100% placements are being achieved every year. The brands we attracted are all well-known and make a respectable lineup. Most of the visiting companies are regular visitors.

Fees are relatively affordable for their ranking and ROI. Ample financial aid is available. Haven't heard of scholarships as such. Placements were near 100% and were very lucrative as well but career and finances wise.

I was a member of placements and Media committees. Both are very aggressive but are understandably troubled by a lack of resources like alumni and budget. Classrooms are well equipped but not of the international standard and were not conducive for an MBA class.

The accommodation was very comfortable. Food was poor and we had a lack of quality contractors. The registration process is fairly straightforward and easy. Our temporary hostels were near verka.= in Amritsar.

It was a GD/PI admission. The GD topic was employment models in developing and developed nations. It was a competitive setup and the group was of 8 members. PI was done by a three-membered team and was very stressful. I did fumble a bit initially but confidently sailed through the rest.
