Remarks

I personal strongly recommend this college for students who really want to understand and know the pulse of education through fun, arts, sports, knowledge, politics, etc.

Entrance Preview

We have to take Kerala engineering entrance examination to get admission in this college. I have score 3200 rank in the examination to get admission in the college. I opt electrical and electronics engineering because it gives flexibility in opting your carrier after you course, like you may wish to go to IT or to the core industrial engineering field.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

We can download course curriculum for the college website. The course is structured well giving focus on projects, seminars, internship, study tour, etc. The college is providing every support for research and self-development with a big library and laboratory. We have various electives from 3rd year where student could select courses according to his interest.

Internships Opportunities

Actually I'm not so sure about it stipend and overall experience required for internship, but some engineering students in college do there internship and final project in the college laboratory with the guidance of our professors.

Placement Experience

4

There is dedicated placement cell or committee which include professors and students who coordinate with cooperates and industries for the placement. The placement start from the starting of the final year till the next batch enter into the final year. Companies and NMC form all industries like IT and core industries visit our college campus for recruiting.

College Events

5

We have many cultural, sports, educational and technical festival conducted throughout year with regular intervals. This are as follows Union day, Freshers day, College day, Annual sports and athletic meet, Technical festivals like Explore.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Government College of engineer as name suggest is completely supported and subsidies by the Kerala government. Free are really negligible when compare to other engineering college. Approximately during 2009 time it was 4000 per semi-mister. Apart from this there are many scholarship and stipends to support students from economically backward students.

Fees and Financial Aid

Government College of engineer as name suggest is completely supported and subsidies by the Kerala government. All the government decayed scholarship will be available to the students apart from this there are certain department sponsored scholarship and alumni supported scholarships.

Campus Life

4.5

Campus life is the really awesome with a wide variety of celebrations and festivals. It is actually the best part I personally liked about college is this. The gender ratio is almost 50:50 in all departments expect in mechanical when majority of the students will be male.

Hostel Facilities

3

Government College of engineer have both men's and women's hostel facilities which have its own mess system from food. Normally food served is of typical south Indian food but we have an option for selecting vegetarian or non-vegetarian food. In hostel each room is shared by 4 people. They are provided with minimum furniture like bed, study table and chair and a small locker.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni associations have a strong influence in the college through its funding of college infrastructure projects, placements reference and support and by funding scholarships for students in need.

Exam Structure

We have two type of exams which count for final passing of the student which include external and internal exams. External exams are conducted by Kannur University and internal exams are done in the college itself by our professors. In internal exams include sectional written exams and assignments. In final years main project, mini project, seminars will all counter in for final passing out.

Faculty

3.5

Government College of engineering, Kannur has a very good faculty members who are well qualified and willing to help students. Apart from the senior professors, new lecture and visiting professors are also well qualified and have good teaching skills. During free time students can freely meet and discuss the doubts and clarifications without waiting for appointments. Faculties are really keen to support student in the study and related research activities 24 X 7.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is the worst. Teachers rush through the portions so that they can finish at the earliest. It may be because the university has a unjustifiable timetable. There is very little practicals given. The ones that are given are just for namesake.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is under KTU syllubus do it's fine. There is a change in curriculum coming 2024 which i assume would make a lot of good changes. The curriculum gives you a head start For most of your work, you need to on your own but the faculty is there to help. The frequency of exams is weekly tests + monthly exams. Its not too difficult of an exam.

The students usually start appearing for campus placements in their 6th semester. The training for the campus placements is started for all the students from the 4th semester. Many companies visited for campus placements. But one main problem is that most of them were low packages. Around 4LPA. Some were between 4-6 and a very few between 6-10. Most of them got placed in our batch in some company.
