Remarks

Pros- 1. Classes are held regularly. 2.It has a nice campus with loads of greenery. 3. Good infrastructure, 4. Huge patient load so great clinical exposure. Cons.- 1. Located in a Tier III city. 2. There is a little problem with accommodation. Admission- Admission is done through central counselling. First I had to seat for the NEET exam. After clearing the cut off I appeared for the counselling process and selected the college. After getting the college, I had to come to the college to take admission. Generally, NEET is held in May, but due to covid It has been postponed. Reason for preferring- My rank in NEET was allowed me to choose this college and also the academic record and clinical exposure attracted me. I used Quora while selecting this college.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I always wanted to be a doctor, so I chose the MBBS. Serving to the poor and have-nots gives me immense pleasure. Faculty: Student ratio varies from department to department. The clinical departments have more faculties. Overall it is about 1: 6. To become an Assistant professor the faculty has to an MBBS as well as an MD or MS in that subject. One has to publish thesis papers to become Associate Professor and Professor. Doctors with only MBBS degree can be Demonstrator. The quality of teaching was very high in our college. They always resolved our queries. Most of them use PowerPoint presentation to teach. We have smartboards also. Practicals were performed well. Overall it was a good experience. There are 3 Trimester exams and 1 Professional exam in one year. They were performed timely. The difficulty was moderate. One has to read well to pass.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

All the students are bound to give one year of complementary internship at the hospital after completion of the course. A stipend of about 28,000 INR per month is given. One can apply for the internship in other colleges too.

Placement Experience

4.5

After completion of the course, one has to give one year of complementary internship. After that one can-1. apply for jobs in Govt. Health Centres or 2. can take the Housestaffship At the same college or 3. can appear For Postgraduate entrance exams. Almost all the students get a job if they want to take. Otherwise, there are other scopes of higher studies. One can appear for UPSC exams too. My plan is to appear for the Postgraduate Entrance test to pursue MD/MS degree.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees taken during admission was around Rs. 6500. The semester fee is Rs. 4500 for MBBS. The hostel charge is Rs. 144 annually. So, the fees are within the reach of most people. One can avail of the scholarship given by State Govt. if the family income is below a certain limit. Overall, The college is quite feasible.

Campus Life

4.5

Life at the campus is great and full of enjoyment. We have the annual fest named 'Synapse' which takes place with grandeur. Synapse is held in September every year. Besides we have the Reunion Program which takes place in January. Saraswati puja is also celebrated. Our library is one of the biggest in West Bengal. All the necessary books are available and also has 4 air conditioned reading rooms and 2 computer rooms. Renowned journals are available. Self directed learning and small group Discussion also take place. annual sports events also take place grandly where both outdoor and indoor games are given equal importance. Annual badminton competition is held separately. Many other extracurricular activities are also held, like Campaigning against Female Foeticide, Blood Donation Camp, Surveys etc. We have music bands for each year's students. We take part in various cultural fests that take place over the year in our Auditorium.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

One hostel room is shared by 4 students. They are most likely to be from different years. Each of the students is provided with a bed, a mattress, a table and a chair. One can also install a Cooler at his own cost. Meal quality is decent and the menu is set by the owner of the canteen and is according to Bengali cuisine. Fish is served at lunch every day except Wednesday. Chicken is also served at a cheap rate. after getting admission, I had to apply for the hostel to the principal by giving him a letter. The hostel is affordable to everyone as the hostel fee is pretty low. The locality is Kenduadihi if I rented a room or PG

Interview Experience

4

A centrally structured common entrance test was held- The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test. It is a Multiple Choice Question type of test consisting of 180 questions. 90 questions from Biology, 45 each from Chemistry and Physics. Biology is given the most weightage. To appear for the exam one has to keep the above mentioned 3 subjects in 11th and 12th and score minimum marks in 12th Boards exam (information is provided every year before exam). I cleared the cutoff and registered my name for the state counselling. # rounds are held in the counselling in which one has to give the sequence of colleges of his/her own choice. After 1st round, I appeared for 2nd round and got to this college. I prepared for the NEET exam during my 11th and 12th of my own.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I have always wanted to persue English as a career. I love studying English but not a big fan of the new curriculum by NEP that includes a lot pf irrelevant papers. The semesters are not consistent. Odd semesters usually have a lot of time like 6-8 months but even semesters barely consist of 2-3 months.
