Remarks
I wanted to do B.Com Hons. from the beginning but I wasn't getting any good college so I went for Economics Hons. in Daulatram College. Choosing Daulatram College over & above SGTB Khalsa, SBCS, DCAC, Gargi College and many other colleges was not so hard for me because I knew for a fact that: Daulatram is one of the oldest colleges & has such a high reputation. It's a college of North campus (Campus life would be amazing). Faculty is so overwhelming here that I can't even explain (Teachers are so helpful & hardworking). It has many different societies that'll bring out the best in you in every possible way. I also knew some of the disadvantages of being here that were: All girls college. Fests aren't as good as other colleges. Infrastructure isn't good. But these limitations did not stop me from taking admission here. With god's grace, I got my dream course (B.Com Hons. ofcourse) in the next cutoff so I switched to a different course but my college remained the same.
Course Curriculum Overview
So, I wanted to do B.Com Hons because I'm a student of commerce background and I had a deep interest in accounting. Also, when I was in 12th standard we had to study Economics as a compulsory subject. Since then I inculcated an interest in economics too so I was comfortable with doing B.Com Hons. or Economics Hons. both (B.Com Hons. being top priority). Talking about the faculty of the college, I got a bunch of the best teachers. They are so hardworking and helpful. They don't hesitate in teaching us as many times as we ask. All the teachers have different method of teaching. Besides this, we never had any difficulty in coping up with any subject. Everything seemed quite easy. Talking about exams, the exams are taken by the university. But since we were taught in such a way that exams seemed very easy. We didn't have any problem with giving our exams.
Placement Experience
Any year students are eligible for campus placement. We get a placement code in the first year itself after registering with the placement cell to avail of any opportunities given by the placement cell. Since it's college, the placement percentage is not very high and hovers between 5%-8%. The highest package was 12 lakhs per annum in 2019-2020.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure is quite affordable. Since it's a government college so the prices aren't too high. Also, there is a reduction in fees for the reserved categories. The fee structure of B.com Hons. at Delhi university is 14.9k annually. The fee for the first year is a little high around 16k.
Campus Life
Our college has many societies that will bring out the best ability in you in every possible way. All the socities are managed by the students although the teachers are the head. We have 3 different societies namely NSS, NCC and NSC. You compulsorily have to be a part of one of these three. NCC is all related to cadets and being punctual and March pasts, etc. NSS is the one in with you'll have to do social service. Apart from these, we have different cells like placement cells, women development cell and many more.
Interview Experience
There was no interview for admission. It was all merit-based. All you need is to check whether you meet the cutoff of a particular college. If you do so, apply for it. You can only apply to one college at a time. If in the next cutoff you get a better college, you can cancel your admission from the previous college and apply for a new one.
Other Applied Colleges
St. Xavier's College, Kolkata | B.com Hons.
Because I was more fascinated to Delhi university and St Xavier's was way too strict.
