Remarks
IIM Udaipur is one of the best among the new IIMs. It has a comparatively small batch size and fewer fees. The campus is amazing. The faculty is very helpful and well-versed in their respective subjects. IIM Udaipur is known for its research capabilities and the vision that Director Jannat Shah possesses for this institute. Having completed 10 years now, IIMU is doing very well for itself. The management of the COVID situation on campus was dynamically taken care of very well when compared to other IIMs. The processes are quite transparent and unlike other IIMs, the placement report is audited every year which provides a true picture of the placement scenario. Transparency was my main reason for joining this college. Well, every college has a good and a bad side to it, but at IIMU the good outweighs the bad. It's just two years with this college and if utilized right, the learnings will help you long-term.
Course Curriculum Overview
All exams are held timely and there is no burden of any paper as such. The student-faculty ratio is around 60:1 and faculties are very experienced and up-to-the-mark. MBA helps give you a holistic view of all the domains, and me coming from a science background with 1-year work experience, wanted to learn about each domain before choosing the subject I would want to build my career into.
Internships Opportunities
HUL was our first-time recruiter this time with the highest stipend. Goldman Sachs, CISCO, Accenture Strategy, Bajaj Auto were some of the regular companies that provided the highest stipends for Summers. Roles ranged from HR,MArketing,Sales, etc
Placement Experience
Term 1 is when your summer internship prep begins and from term 4 you are prepared for finals. A number of companies visited our campus, even in COVID times, like- CISCO, Accenture Strategy, Bajaj Auto, KPMG, and Goldman Sachs. These are some of our regular recruiters. We achieved 100% summer placements for the 2020-2022 batch this year, with the highest stipend being INR 1.25Lakhs and the lowest being INR 10,000. Profiles offered ranged from Marketing to Operations to HR and Strategy.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee hike was minimal for us. The institute did not charge hostel and mess fees for those who were not on campus yet. So, cost-wise, the institute is very just. It also reimbursed the students for wifi for the first term that was being held online. The overall cost for two years is about 18L for the 2020-2022 batch. However, it might increase slightly for the coming batch. Scholarship and financial assistance are provided for the ones who can present the appropriate proofs. The campus also provides a minimum stipend to those who bag a summer internship with zero or very little stipend.
Campus Life
Solaris, the business annual fest was held online this year which was a success. Audacity, the cultural fest, was held offline with various performances and events. The experience was exhilarating. We have a huge hanging library that is in its final stages of completion. The existing library is well equipped with books. The e-resources available to us are really helpful in projects. The infrastructure is amazing, both hostel rooms and classrooms. Each room is equipped with ACs. The classrooms are huge with whiteboards and projectors and have a capacity of about 70 people. The auditorium is an approx 350-40 seater. The sports ground is a 3-minute walk outside the main gate but is big enough for playing 3 sports simultaneously. Student-run communities are many in our college and each has its own inductions. Every alternate person gets a chance to be part of at least one SCO The sports fest (Utkrisht), the cultural fest (Audacity), and the management fest (Solaris) are student-run.
Hostel Facilities
Rooms are well-equipped with one cot, cupboard, table, and chair for each student. ACS is provided as well. 2 bathrooms and 2 toilets are shared among 4 rooms. The first years have twin sharing rooms, while the second years have single-sharing. Hostel rooms are allocated on a first come first serve preference basis by Infracomm and the student council. Mess food is edible enough. If bored of mess food, you always have the option of online ordering. The on-campus bakery is our general store and hangout spot. Renting a PG or a room is not viable, since the campus is on the outskirts and staying in a hostel with your batchmates makes a lot of difference in peer-to-peer learnings and bonding.
Interview Experience
CAP interviews do not have a GD round. However, there was WAT and PI. WAT was based on a current topic and PI revolved around my work ex and graduation. According to me, my interview wasn't that great but again, interviews are unpredictable and if you have good X,XII, and grad scores, you'll make a convert even with an average interview in CAP.
