Remarks

I choose this college because of its improvement every year. It was only established in 2010 and has become very famous for its placements. All the facilities (like classes, labs, hostels) are excellent. The faculty is very helpful. Just one concern that the number of students taking admission is increasing rapidly each year. In 2018, about 900 students took admission then about 1400 students in 2019, and now 3500+ students in 2020!! (only engineering) Admission process : Chitkara University doesn't conduct any entrance exams. You can take admission based on 12th or JEE scores.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

I am in CSE. I choose this course because the maximum number of companies coming for recruitment is from the IT sector. There is one mentor over a class of 50 students. The teaching method is good like the teacher first teaches the concept thoroughly and then shows its practical code (or anything) on the whiteboard. In each semester, there is one End Term Examination (ETE) at the end of the semester of each subject and 2-3 Sessional tests (ST) and 3-4 FAs. In online mode, they are of MCQ pattern which is easy to solve.

Internships Opportunities

2.5

A CSE student can get an on-campus internship in the third year and an on-campus placement in the fourth year. Other than on-campus, we can find intership ourselves on apps like Internshala, freelancer, etc. Several companies visit the campus for internship purposes. We can also apply for off-campus internships.

Placement Experience

4

Our university is famous for its placements. No. of companies visiting the campus for recruitment is more than 1000. The most known companies which recruit from our university are Google, Microsoft, Infosys, Wipro, and many more. A CSE student can get an on-campus internship in the third year and an on-campus placement in the fourth year. Other than on-campus, we can find intership ourselves on apps like Internshala, freelancer, etc.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee for BE/BTech is 82k per sem. And for a hostel, it is around 50k per sem (including mess and laundry). It remains the same throughout the course. Chitkara University does not provide any kind of scholarship in the first year, however, from 2nd year onwards, you can avail yourself scholarships based on 1st year's result.

Campus Life

4.5

Rangrezz is the annual fest of Chitkara Univeristy. The algorithm is the annual cultural fest and Bienvenue is the fresher's party. Apart from these annual fests, DJ nights are arranged once a month. Books and journals are always available in the library. Classrooms are really largely consisting of large round-shaped benches. Each classroom has 3 slidable blackboards and a projector. Sports is the best thing in our university. For indoor games, there is a hall named "Sportorium". We can get any game carrom, chess, Foosball table, badminton issued with an identity card. And for outdoor sports, we have "Sports Arena" which has volleyball, basketball and football ground. And a really large cricket ground named Omega zone in front of hostels. There are a number of clubs for dance, tech, non-tech, and many more.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

Hostels are really appreciable. They provide 4 beds, 4 almirahs, 4 study tables (small light above each table), 4 chairs, 4 shelves, curtains, a dustbin, 2 fans, 2 tube lights, a cooler/ac (as opted) in a 4 seater room. There are only 4 seater rooms available for fresher. Till now we were having only common washrooms, but the new hostel with attached washrooms is ready and some students have been shifted to it. Each girl's hostel has its own mess but boys hostels have only one common mess. We get 4 meals a day (Breakfast, Lunch, Evening Tea with snacks, and dinner). Food quality is good (obviously not as good as home food).

Other Applied Colleges

Chandigarh University | CSE

More students and more competition. Less chances of getting good jobs.

CGC Landran | CSE

Very bad infrastructure facilities. Only 1 girls hostel (oldest) having accommodation for 1200 girls.

Placement Experience:

Since the first batch of VLSI is yet to be placed I would take example of ECE for reference. Out of 110 students which sat for placements , 91 got placed , median of 13 lakh with avergae of 16 lakh and 61 lakh highest on campus. These are of 24-25 and this year placements are better as even apple visited us after an hiatus of 3 years. In core electronics , Samsung Rnd , TATA electronics , Cadence , Micron etc visited for tech , UKG , PhonePay , Oracle , Accenture etc vist in consulting and finance , Mckinsey , JP Morgan , GoldmanSachs , AmericanExpress visit. After my btech I plan to do a job.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the course plan around 7 out of 10 in terms of relevance and depth. I chose this course mainly because it includes core tech subj like DSA, DBMS, OS, AI and cloud, which are useful for jobs in tech field. The presence of lab work and proj based learning also influenced my choice. The curriculum gives a fair base in theory and basic prac skills. It helps in campus place prep and also builds base for higher study like MTech or MS. But real world skill still depends a lot on self study, online course and side proj. Some topics feel updated, but a few subj are still too theory heavy and not linked to real case use. Exams are held twice as mid test and once as end term in each sem. There are also quiz, viva and lab eval. The level is moderate. If you attend class and revise notes, it is manageable. For improve, more live proj, hack event, ind visit and case study should be added. Teach method should shift more to code demo and less slide read
