Entrance Preview
I was accepted into this college by Military Quota. I had performed really well in my XII CBSE exams. Every college in Maharashtra(at least most) offer 1 seat in every branch for a Jammu and Kashmir Immigrant, Resident or Military Personnel posted in the valley during the entrance period. My father was working in Udhampur in the Indian Air Force and that coupled with my performance in XII earned me a seat in MIT.
Course Curriculum Overview
I would say that the course curriculum is a little dated. But I would think that's the case with most schools. I was in CSE and the most modern language that was taught to us was Java. The basics were clarified using C and C++, however none of these languages are really used massively except for some legacy software systems.
Internships Opportunities
During my time the college did not offer any internship. But a few organisations (can be counted on fingers) used to offer a few BE Projects to students. Can't really be called internships though because they used to run along with lectures. Students would usually go to the firms on weekends to complete the projects.
Placement Experience
A lot of companies visited the campus. And there were companies for all kind of people, technologists, consultants, core industries, IT, etc. There was some disparity in terms of packages.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fee structure was okay. I wouldn't say it was very cheap or very expensive. But I know a few students used to struggle because of their background. It was around 60000 pa. Which makes it about 240000 for the 4 years. I faintly remember it increasing almost every year.
Fees and Financial Aid
I am not aware of any scholarships. But there were a few awards I believe which used to provide waivers based on merit or need. But cannot comment much because I neither availed nor tried.
Campus Life
Campus life was the best life and this is probably the best question that I am answering in this whole set. The opportunities within college is what made a difference to my life. I have been brought up in a cosmopolitan culture all my life but this was way better than I could ask for.
Exam Structure
It was neither very frequent not very excruciating. We had 2 semesters every year. 5 subjects and few labs and vivas in each semester. I found the lab exams a little difficult, however the subjects were easy to clear. Pune University is usually a little tough and people save their books to the last few days.
Faculty
Faculty was a mix of excellent and average. Some of our physics and mathematics professors were amazing. One of our communication skills professors was out of the box. I think those were the most amazing sessions that we used to have. Probably scheduled once a week. Overall 20-30% of the professors were out of the box, 40-50% were great, and the rest were average.
