Remarks

The good aspect of my college is that classes are held and are taken seriously, even amidst covid. The teachers are available for doubt clearance too. The bad aspect is it lacks a little on cleanliness. My reason for preferring this college over others is the quality of education provided here. The name of the website used is: jecassam.ac.in

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I chose BE/BTech mechanical. This is because this branch is closest to my interests. The faculty-student ratio is quite satisfactory. We are a branch of almost 98 students and we are divided into three groups of almost 33 students each and each group is provided with three teachers, in case of practical classes. As for theory classes, they are mostly online due to covid. Some of the faculty are from IITs and NITs. The rest of the faculty are also from reputed colleges. Their teaching techniques are satisfactory and they readily clear our doubts if we ask them. The internal exams were held timely, except the end semester final exam got postponed due to elections. The question paper was decent enough to pass.

Internships Opportunities

3

For internship companies like Amazon, come forward. Due to covid, this process is kind of slow now. There has been almost a gap of one year. Also, I just have been admitted to this college so I am not very well aware of all the companies that provide internship.

Placement Experience

4

I believe that students become eligible for campus placements from the 7th semester. Companies like OIL, Amazon, Microsoft, Infosys, ONGC, HPCL, VEDANTA PLC, PSUs and many more have visited and offered jobs and internships.

Fees and Financial Aid

This year's fees were not taken as per the government rule due to covid. However, fees have been taken from us as hostel fees and a small amount was also taken for admission. Nevertheless, the entire fee structure is decent enough and affordable too. There are a few scholarships which we can obtain to reduce our fees too.

Campus Life

4

As, the college has just resumed after covid, so no fest has been conducted yet but those will be conducted soon. There are a lot of books available in the college library. And each student is provided with a card through which he or she can take five books from the library at a time. There are also many books in the hostel library too. There are a lot of sports available for physical fitness and growth. Inter-hostel competitions are being held for the same. There are many social clubs available too. There are clubs for environmental cleanliness, for social service, for art and craft, for singing and so on. These clubs are run by the students.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Three LAN points are provided in each room. Four plug points are provided in each room where there are four roommates. Food from mess is provided for all three meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner. We can still order from outside if we want. Hostel allotment is done according to our rank in CEE. The food quality is decent. The inverter is there too. Availability of water might be a problem but other than that, it is quite fine.

Interview Experience

4.5

I got admitted through the entrance. I gave the Assam CEE and according to my rank and marks got admitted here. I prepared for this exam by studying Physics, Chemistry and Maths. The higher secondary syllabus with the inclusion of some entrance related topics and questions is what I studied. The test is usually easier than JEE.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is very relevant and is different for different branches according to their needs. I was interested in civil engineering and chose the course and find the curriculum intersting and relevant for me . The curriculum offers subject which are important for real world applications, like in civil engineering it's offers subjects like building construction, solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, material testing, serving, etc. The course curriculum is very good but the teaching methods needs improvement like more digitalization . The exams frequency and timings are neither too late nor too early, they are perfectly planned and executed.

Course Curriculum Overview:

There exists a good teaching staff that's why the course is very easy to understand also teachers give us good examples also do practicals so that's students understand the course easily . I see that there exist a low no of equipments in practical lab compare to it's students ratio so if they have a good no of equipments then all students get equipment to do experiment without any waste of time . Time is good as compare to marks and the first 30 marks are beginner level the other 40 marks are intermediate level and the remaining 30 Marks are advanced level questions in a question paper for the students they published.

Placement Experience:

Placements start from 7th semester (4th Year). Companies like Amazon, Legato, TCS, Synopsis, etc. visit for on campus placements. We have a very good placement ratio and average package. For CSE, the average package was 13 LPA and 92% students were placed. While for ECE, the average package was 8 LPA and 66% students were placed. I'm planning on gaining work experience for 2 years after my B.Tech and then pursue MS Or M.Tech from abroad.

Placement Experience:

The placement scenario is quite good, with several reputed companies like General Electric, Power Grid Corporation of India, Goldman Sachs, among others recruiting 94 percent of the students in the college. The placement takes place in three rounds, one testing one's aptitude, followed by an hour round, finally leading on to a technical round. Mock interview and job cracking sessions are organized regularly, both by the departments, and also the Training and Placement Cell, to prepare students for the interviews and examinations going forward. The Training and Placement Cell also provides internship opportunities at the end of third year for the students, based on their aptitude and abilities

Remarks:

I have mostly positive remarks about college except for the fact that the college is situated really far from mainstream north India. Train connectivity is not that strong to rest of country. But despite that the college is extremely good in the sense of learning, meeting new innovative minds, and of course placements and jobs.
