Remarks

College life is committed to students' growth and success in everything students do. This life provides resources to help students that have the power to instill a sense of pride. So being a proud shivajian, I will dedicate all my success to the faculty of Shivaji college especially my botany department. With pleasant drizzles and cool winds, the weather at our Hawa mahal is truly irresistible. There are certain aspects to be considered about the college that is as follows:- *Admission was based on merit and is very simple. 2-5 % relaxation is given to the girls. You need to have all your documents and your personal bank account. *I preferred this college over the other because it is one of the best-emerging college ranked 51 in India by NIRF in 2020. *It has well-equipped library with an almost great range of books. *College has a huge playground in front of it to play sports such as badminton, basketball etc

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I completed my graduation in BSC life science in the year 2020. It was very tough for me to choose the best stream from botany Hons, zoology Hons, and life science. But I chose life science over others because it was the subject that gives you an insight into all the three subjects i.e botany, zoology, and chemistry. It can lead to great career prospects in education, research, or industries. One can be zoologist, botanists, chemical technician, etc. This field has wide range of career opportunities, no matter what you are entering in your professional career, life science offers endless opportunities. The college has a ratio of 55 students for each professor. They are very helpful and knowledgeable enough to clear our doubts. They teach as per the syllabus prescribed by DU. The course curriculum is excellent. Each semester is held in a gap of 6 months i.e June & December. Ten years are available from the library to grasp main topics if one just want to clear the exam.

Internships Opportunities

4

The placement cell of Shivaji college is quite proactive in offering quality internships. The stipend is offered on the basis of the skills and work of the student. Various companies like UAS international etc visit for campus recruitment. Most of the internships are open to the science field. For science students, the college offers a great experience to work with a professor in the lab. It helps in improving skill development and gaining valuable corporate experience.

Placement Experience

4

From the 5th semester, students became eligible for campus placements. The college is best for placements. Placement fair held in the month of March where top MNCs visit our college to recruit students for jobs. Students of courses like Bcom, BBE, IT apply in large numbers. About 60% of the students get selected for final placements every year and around 80% of the students get internships from our course. Some of the companies i.e Allen, ICICI, Genpact, etc visit our college for placements. The maximum percent of students are placed after the course ended. The highest package of the college offered is 4LPA and the lowest is 2.5 LPA. Top roles are offered to BCom, BA Hons students in the business department. E&Y is one of the top recruiting companies. Generally, companies come for commerce and arts background students in our college. I am currently preparing for MBA i.e CAT exam and want to be in one of the top B schools.

Fees and Financial Aid

My cost of the study was around 65000. The fees of the course are more compared to all the colleges of Delhi University i.e 21000 in the first year and so on. The fees include lab fees, tuition fees, etc. Scholarships are also given to the top rankers every year. Not only this the college has a placement cell that is very much active and gives you internship opportunities every year. Intership Fair is held once a year that offers placements in the most reputed companies with 4 lac average CTC. The great pharma companies are also part of this fair and placed you with a handsome salary if you are capable. Not only this college also give you the opportunity to work as an intern in different labs and take the experience of your course. The fees are not hiked very much every year. The quality of education is excellent as compared to the fees that give you proper lab experience.

Campus Life

4.5

College held fest 'Vibrations' every year in the month of February. It has proper food stalls and other accessories stalls. Also, the college appoints a bouncer to maintain the safety of the college, and entries are not allowed without the college card. High personalities such as Varun Dhawan, Varun Sood, Divya Aggarwal, Jubin Nautiyal had visited our college. Availability of the various books in the library is available and offers a great atmosphere of the library. It is one the biggest library of Delhi University and offers a great range of books that one needs in his or her exam. The library is air-conditioned. Alongwith studies college also offers to take part in co-curricular activities and has a lot of societies to flourish our hidden talents i.e Vibgyor (art), dictum (debate), women development cell, NSS, NCS, Shutterbugs, footloose, etc. Not only this it has a huge playground in front of it where sports students can play outdoor games. Sports day is conducted every year in college with rewards.

Students become eligible for campus placements around 5th to 6th semester. Highest package of 2024 was 25LPA. Usually 8CGPA is considered a sweet spot for campus placements plus it gets them easier to get into world class universities for post graduation.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course Biomedical Sciences is very interesting as well as challenging, it covers various fields of sciences and has great scope in terms of research. The course connects theory with real world applications in hospitals and research laboratories. A few examples would include, antibacterial testing, PFT, EMG, blood tests, which are commonly performed in hospitals. The course also helps us to pursue our hands in research further by providing us with hands on training for skills such as biostatistics, writing scientific literature, lab skills, etc. A few improvements that I would suggest is the removal of outdated testing methods and practicals from the curriculum that are not essential for the real world currently. The teaching methods are quite good and interesting. The exams are conducted at the end of each semester and are relevant to the curriculum. The practical exams test your knowledge of hands on experience that you've gained while doing lab work. Theory exams are of 3 hours as per usual and test your theoretical knowledge from books and classes mainly.
