Remarks
I chose this college due to its location on the North campus and its reputation of being a fine commerce college. Cut off is very high in the first list but I managed to get in there in the third cut-off list. Admission is secured on the basis of the top 4 subjects of class 12th. Its cut-off is mostly at par with Ramjas college. DRC is a girls college but for other courses such as foreign language, it is opened for guys too. Admission processes are similar to that of other DU colleges, even smoother than many colleges. Original marksheets of class 10th and 12th are needed along with self-attested ID proofs.
Course Curriculum Overview
Each year has two semesters and there are 4 subjects in each semester. Bcom has the more or less the same curriculum as that of Bcom honors with a slight difference in subjects. Besides semester exams, the marks of attendance and of projects/class tests also count. There are total of two sections for Bcom and each section has 60-70 students. The faculty has a mix of new as well as experienced professors. The professors of cyber/corporate laws are well experienced. Subjects like English are taken up by new faculty members. Occasionally we also had guest faculties when concerned teachers are on long leave.
Internships Opportunities
At that time there were only those internships that one could get through platforms such as Internshala etc. The college did not provide internships to students from their side for Bcom. The placement cell provides opportunities for jobs only not for internships.
Placement Experience
The placement cell of the college does provide an opportunity with companies such as EY, KPMG, etc but there are not enough opportunities. Still, the students get a fair chance to go through the recruitment process of many companies. The CTC offered to students generally ranged between 2.5 LPA to 3.5 LPA. Since most of the students have plans for higher studies after Bcom, the low percentage of students getting placed is justifiable.
Fees and Financial Aid
The program has a fee of around Rs 15000 per year including exam fees of both the trimesters. The fee is decent but the hostel fee is costly and is at par with PG prices. No such scholarship was available at my time which was provided by the college. There was Higher education scholarship provided by the Ministry of HRD which students can avail themselves.
Campus Life
There are many recreational spots outside the college. However, there was not any special social life inside the campus. The campus lacked infrastructure facilities. There were not even enough number of rooms which were timely available for the classes. Rooms even lacked proper number of chairs and desks. Although there were department and college fests which were really great and enjoyable. We also had NCC/NSS for participating in community service. The students did not have an access to wifi though. The library had course and reference books in abundance but lacked student journals.
