Remarks
IIM Trichy has provided me some valuable experience with some good days and some bad days as well. The good part of this college is that there is a fostering environment for learning and faculties have been very accommodating. I personally feel that the batch size at 240 is too low for the moment and having a higher batch size will mean more peer interactions. CAT scores were accepted and a Common Admission Process Interview took place 2 months CAT exam. Three months after the interview, the final admission results were released and we were intimated about further steps. I personally chose IIM Trichy as I felt that the college had shown good growth over the past 10 years and is touted as the best new IIM. The fully functional campus with good infrastructure made the choice easier combined with good placements which had an average salary of around 15 Lakhs. I was guided by the "CAT Writer" blog written by Tony Xavier of IMS India while choosing this college.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course, because I felt that this was the best career option for me going forward with my work experience. There are about 500 students for a batch and there are approximately 40 full-time faculties. The faculties are well qualified from reputed institutes and have a great pedagogy that is very interactive. The exams conducted are challenging yet enriching. There are different individual and group components that every student has to adhere to in order to pass the course.
Internships Opportunities
There are internship offers from companies such as Deloitte, Cognizant, JP Morgan, and Saint Gobain namely who offered great compensation packages to the students with good roles such as sales and marketing intern, IB intern, Business Associate Intern, and Functional Consultant Intern.
Placement Experience
There are summer placements from the first term and the placements carry on till the end of the programme. There have been some high-profile companies such as JP Morgan, Delloite, Cognizant etc who are a regular recruiters and offer really good compensation. The roles offered are namely Sales and Marketing associate, Business Analyst, Tech Consultant, and Financial Risk analyst.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee of 9 lakh per year is almost among the lines of the new IIMs. The campus recruitment has been good over the past few years with an average salary of around 15 lakhs. This is a game-changer among new IIMs and it makes the college stand out from others. The State Bank of India located inside the campus disbursed the education loan in 3 days without any hassle and it takes less than a day for the term fees to be paid by the bank.
Campus Life
Dhruva is the cultural and business fest conducted in the month of January usually. There is a newly constructed Library Resource Center which has all the resource needed for a B-school candidate to prosper and prepare for the career ahead. The classrooms are equipped with AC and projectors and they are state of art. The sports facilities is top-notch and there is always some training session for a sport going on at any given time. In addition, there are special interest groups run by students namely PRISM, which aims at maintaining gender equality.
Hostel Facilities
There is a single occupancy room with AC, board, study table, and cupboards. The food quality is good and is much better than other colleges. There is an option to have Veg and Non-veg food everyday and food is available on time. The hostel registration is very straightforward and students will be allocated a room by the hostel office and the price is the same for all the students.
Interview Experience
There was an essay writing round followed by a personal interview. The essay writing round had topics about the Indian economy and budget and we were asked to opine and give our suggestions. In the personal interview, there were questions about my work experience, Local geography, and politics, and my undergraduate studies. Once, the processes were over, the scores of these rounds combined with other factors such as CAT Score, Academic records, Work Experience, gender and academic diversity were given specific weightage and people were given admission based on the cumulative score. I prepared for these processes by going through Economic times and also the Knappily app to get a grip of the current political and business scenario. I gave some mock interviews with IMS India Limited as well.
