Inside of IIM Amritsar

IIM Amritsar because it catered to my need for Majors in Marketing as well as offering an MBA degree, rather than a PGP degree. IIM Amritsar wasn't in CAP whereas they shortlisted and picked from the pool. The direct interview process, via Zoom call, went smooth and the results are pretty quick and in time, as compared to others. Moreover, I found no negative on "Pagalguy.com"!! I chose it over others because it's the fastest-growing baby IIM with the stabilized package and increasing constantly. I would prefer the institute to others because the management actually cares about the students and took great depth to ensure regular online as well as offline classes. The institute has given incredible 100% placements, as well as the fees, was comparatively low. While I was consulting with my other MBA peers, they mentioned how it is located next to the airport, which makes it more convenient. As well as the city allocation of Amritsar, as the holy city, gives an edge in terms of recruiters coming for placement.

I chose MBA because I had a keen interest in marketing and management. IIM Amritsar is known for its Marketing hence I chose it. Each class consists of different batch sizes, on the basis of the electives and the subject choose. But it never exceeds 45 students per section. All the faculties are highly qualified with experience in the industry as well as in teaching, which is the cherry on top. Almost all the faculties are PhDs from IIM A, B, C, K, I. Teaching methods differ from teacher to teacher because you are taught by a renowned teacher, and you get to learn from their conventional teaching experiences like stimulation game, case study, real industry examples, and issues incurred. Most of the teachings are usually practical-based and relatable to the existing market. Terms stand for 3 months each and exams are held either as midterms or just end terms. Passing the exam is subjective because a GPA system considers all the academic. So, a student who is working constantly scores well.

IIM Amritsar has been giving 100 percent summer placement constantly and the average stipend is pretty stable and better than other baby IIMs. Companies such as ICICI, Xiaomi, HPCL, etc come every year for placement and give the role in a variety of domains such as Operations, sales, marketing, HR, consultancy, finance, analytics, etc. Projects differ from company to company.

Students are eligible for placement from year 2 onwards. We have over 100 offers and the placements are stable as well as secure. The average package is 13 LPA and the highest package was 48 LPA. Institute is giving 100 percent placement. I plan to join a marketing firm in the role of digital marketing or marketing analyst.

The hikes in fees are very low and known. We are expected to pay the fees term-wise, not yearly. Moreover, the institute offers scholarships to toppers, students with low income as well as with category. They also have few scholarship schemes that come once in a while and management forwards them to the students directly.

IIM Amritsar has industrial conclaves like Yukti, Paripekshya, etc. We also have Kritansh, the annual sports fest of IIM Amritsar that goes for a term, and Aarunya, which's the annual cultural, sports, and management fest of IIM Amritsar. Students participate with enthusiasm and compete against other institutes as well. All the term books are given by the administration, that is covered in the yearly fees, and students are given premium and complete subscription of over 15 authorized journals and research sectors. Classes are equipped with every sort of amenity, that is in the interest of the students. IIM Amritsar encourages students to participate in every sort of competition, fests, sports activities, cultural activities, and social causes. We are 9 committees and 15 Clubs and IG groups. All of them are student-driven and all the aspects of them come under the students. That's why its a 'student-driven campus'.

It's a residential campus hence hostel is mandatory. We are offered flats and given a space to feel at home and have over personal space as well. Menu of the mess is decided and changed by the students and offers a variety of meals from all over the country. The flats as well as mess are always neat and updated as per the needs and requirements of the students.

We had PIs. Since COVID was at its peak and we were on a lockdown, we had an online interview and that had just PI's. IIM Amritsar doesn't conduct GDs. The interview time and date were given and students were asked to join via Zoom Call. Students waited in the waiting room and there was a panel of 2 faculties, who took the interview. The interview was taken by the senior faculties of IIM Amritsar and stayed for nearly 15 minutes, on average. Questions were usually asked as per the background and the academic aspect of the student, so it was easy to justify, if the student has filled in honest details. As a fresher, I prepared my academics really well and my branch industry, as in what was relevant in the market and what are the booming sectors of the industry. There were few questions from the general news and CAT course outline.
