My College Days

Caste discrimination is very prevalent although sometimes is blatantly open most of the time its very polished act. Like staff favoring people of the prevalent caste. The management knows about this and most definitely turns a blind eye to it. Its is one the decline in the recent years but not completely out yet.

Eamcet- 12000 chosen from the list of colleges shown in the counseling center and was always interested in mechanical stream.

Course structure is pretty much the same in like every other college out there. You don't find anything mind boggling new when it comes to course structure. If you are into research you will definitely find at least one lecturer who can help you out.

If you are decently good in academics with no back logs 100 placement is guaranteed but then you don't always get good companies. Most people do get thru to reputed companies so placements wise its a very good institution. Cognizant and Tcs are our prime recruiters.

We have various technical symposiums conducted at the starting of the year for different batches. In engineering stream we don't have cultural festivals abut they are available in our college in other streams. GITAM fests are well regarded in the state and students from different cities and colleges do come for participating in them.

It was feasible when i was studying as am from the last autonomous students coming from the college it was Rs 33000 per year. As soon the college became deemed the price was exorbitantly rises to about 1.25 lac per student regardless of rank. which is quite high apart from that the hostel fees is also dramatically increased over all studying in GITAM is an expensive affair.

Scholarships are given to students but i personal don't have a very clear cut idea about them i heard that one of my friends has availed some scholarship but not sure if its external or supported by our college.

The gender ratios is pretty much dependent on the branch you choose but which ever branch you choose it never crosses more than 40% of the total strength ,girls i.e. sometimes the managements tries to act strict and doesn't allow boy girl interaction some times its not an issue so cant say for sure. All types of workshops are conducted by various parties almost on a weekly basis sports are okay extracurricular activities are supported but solely on personal interest.

The average room rent including mess food is quite cheap during my tenure which comes to around 3.5 to 4 k per month the quality of the rooms and bed is decent cant find better at that price point the food quality in mess is quite good but cant say the same for the food taste some dishes are decent but dinner is horrible.

We can proudly say that we the last batch to undergo ragging in our college which actually made us strong and made us determined to not to continue that tradition.The college is now mostly ragging free. I didn't get or need much help from my seniors so cant comment more on that but they sure are a friendly batch used to mingle with them quite freely. Out college does have an active alumni network.

The exams are well placed nothing to fancy just your regular college time table with 3 mids and one semester end exam. The labs are well distributed nothing which will actually leave you exhausted. There will be internal lab exams conducted by our lab teachers and one sem end external lab conducted by other staff. Both mid and sem end marks are considered for final marks.

The standards as per infrastructure goes is pretty awesome but as far as faculty goes not so much. As per the standards of the faculty some are quite good at the subject but lack in teaching skills and vice versa over all you find the basic skills of the teachers just below average.
