Remarks
The sight of the scenic beauty of the Himalayas from the walls of a red brick campus is the first image that grips my mind when I think of IIM Kashipur. Being amongst the top new generation IIMs, IIM Kashipur has successfully demonstrated its worth in the past 10 years. From the stunning infrastructure and excellent faculties to abundant industry exposure, the colleges promise two years of holistic development and inculcating leadership qualities in a candidate. To be eligible for the MBA program of IIM Kashipur, you need to have a valid CAT score. The Common Admission Process (CAP) which is a common process for 9 selected IIIMs including IIM Kashipur, takes places after the initial phase of shortlisting. Post that, each college under CAP releases its separate shortlists. The weights attached to various criteria i.e. Class 10th score, 12th score, Work Ex. differ for each college. IIM Kashipur gives the highest weightage to CAT score followed by Work experience and academic diversity.
Course Curriculum Overview
The first year i.e. term 1-3 focuses on overall growth and learning of the students in each domain. Subsequently, the students can opt for the domains in which they wish to do a major and minor. The course curriculum is greatly inclined towards practical learning and stresses the importance of real-life case-based discussions. Mostly Harvard cases are followed in the classes for each subject apart from the lessons from regular textbooks. The institute comprises 41 faculties from various domains and 34 visiting faculties from other top B-schools. It believes in imparting application-based knowledge. A usual curriculum comprises pre-midterm sessions, intermittent quizzes, midterms, post-midterm sessions, presentations, project reports and end-term examinations. Given the pandemic, the classes are being held in an online mode through Zoom. Examinations and quizzes are monitored through an online assessment platform. Textbooks were sent to students at their home via post.
Internships Opportunities
The college ensures that 100% of the students get placed. Various roles are offered in multiple domains ranging from IT & Analytics to HR, Marketing, Finance and Operations. BFSI remained the top recruiter for this year's summer placements. Companies from various other sectors like Automobile, ed-tech, e-commerce, FMCG, IT and manufacturing etc also took part.

Apart from that, there are a government of India scholarships available for MBA aspirants namely 'Central sector scholarship scheme of Top Class education' for scheduled caste and scheduled tribes students and 'merit-cum-means scholarship scheme' for minority students provided by Ministry of Minority affairs.
Campus Life
The campus life at IIM Kashipur is very calming and serene and it perfectly balances out the hectic schedule of an MBA Curriculum. However, the downside of being in a remote location is that one does miss the hustle-bustle of busy city life at times. All the basic amenities are available at the campus especially in the current times when the students are not allowed to go outside because of the Pandemic. The institute has its own restaurant, grocery store, retail store, saloon and laundry services within the campus, managed effectively by the Infrastructure Committee. IIM Kashipur is a fully student-run campus having 9 committees responsible of day to day functionalities of the college such as academics, cultural events, sports, mess and media relations to name a few, 7 academic clubs representing a specific domain, 12 non-academic/ interest-based clubs, 5 cells and 4 core teams responsible for flagship events of the college such as Agnitraya, Uttishtha and TEDx.
Hostel Facilities
IIM Kashipur's new campus spreads over an area of 200 acres. The hostel blocks are within the campus and at a walking distance away from the Academic block. The first-year students have double sharing while the second year students have single sharing rooms. Each floor has 6 rooms with attached bathrooms and balcony. Apart from that, there is a common room and a kitchen equipped with a microwave, refrigerator and washing machine. The hostel blocks have the radiant heating and cooling system and 24*7 fast speed internet connection. The mess provides meals four times a day and the quality of the food is top-notch. The mess committee is student-run and they ensure the quality of the food to be of supreme taste. The food menu is revised occasionally as per the seasons and demands from the students. The overall menu is quite balanced and provides a variety of options to the students.
Interview Experience
The admission process of IIM Kashipur comes under the CAP which is a common admission process for 9 new generation IIMs. CAP rounds consist of Written Ability Test and Personal interview following that. There is no Group discussion round in CAP. Following the process, each IIM release a separate shortlist on the basis of their Admission Policy. The Admission Policy of IIM Kashipur for the batch of 2021-23 having details of the weightage breakups of various categories can be checked on the official website. However, due to the prevailing pandemic this year, the entire process will be done in an online mode. The Written Ability Test (WAT) for this year is scrapped as it will pose difficulty in carrying it out on virtual platforms. In place of that, it is speculated that an extempore round will be taken (depending on the panellist) to check the candidate's knowledge about the latest trends and affairs. Being calm and not letting one bad answer ruin the entire interview will be the key.
