My experience of IIM Trichy so far

For me, the main reason for applying to Trichy was because it is very famous for Finance and IIM Bangalore was the mentor for this college and hence, IIM Trichy follows the same curriculum. I did some research regarding this college from insideiim.com, mbauniverse.com, and some other websites from where I got the info that the average package of this college was close to 15 lakhs in 2019 which was a satisfactory number for me. Apart from that IIM Trichy has its own campus which is recently built and hence campus life is also very nice. So, because of all these reasons, I choose to take admission to IIM Trichy.

As I said, IIM Trichy was mentored by IIM Bangalore, and hence the curriculum of IIM Trichy and IIM Bangalore is similar. Also, the faculty is also very nice here, they are friendly, and since we are the COVID batch so it was hard for us because of online MBA but the faculties made sure that even though they are teaching us online every student is attentive in the class and they cleared our doubts outside the class or sometimes by taking doubt clearing sessions.

Internship opportunities are available on the campus itself, and hence it gets very easy to get an internship. The internship offered are from a wide variety of domains, be it finance, marketing, sales, operations, or any other field.

From the fifth semester, our campus placements start, and 100% of students get placed with an average package of 15 lakh with the highest package of 35 lakhs in 2019. The official figures for the 2020 batch are not yet released but this year also the placements look good despite the COVID-19 situation.

The fees for the two year MBA program is 18 lakh rupees, which includes the academic fees, infrastructure fees, and the mess and accommodation charges. We have single occupancy rooms and hence it is very comfortable. There are many government scholarships available which you will find in the college portal. The scholarships are available for students whose family income is less than 2.5 lakhs.

Life at IIM Trichy is an amazing experience, after the hectic schedule of classes you can chill on the campus. It has a swimming pool, gym, basketball court, cafeteria, table tennis court, a learning resource centre, and a lake inside the campus near the sports complex. For us due to COVID-19, the college fest "DHRUVA" is being held online but it is a very big event, organized by the students of IIM Trichy.

We have single occupancy rooms, with one bed, a table, a cupboard, an almirah, and an AC. Apart from that, our campus is a full wifi campus and the academic block has all the facilities one can think of in a classroom. The mess food is also nice and the menu is made considering the needs of not only vegetarians and not vegetarians but also it is good for gym freaks who want to do the diet.

For the new IIMs admission process, there was no GD, we had WAT and PI. The WAT topic was very generic and we were given 20 minutes to write about the topic on a blank sheet. After the WAT process, we were directed towards the PI rooms where we gave our PIs. My PI was mostly focused on my extracurricular and my work experience. For WAT and PI, I would suggest that you should read newspapers daily and stay updated with the current affairs.
