Remarks

Jadavpur University is an esteemed university which is known for its excellent academic record worldwide. The university has the top most faculty members and guest lecturers. This college not only caters to a student's academic success but also provides a lot of exposure through extra curricular events and activities.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course curriculum of my subject is pretty student-friendly. The faculty members are quiet experienced and teach everything from the scrath (this is because a lot of students join from the non-socio background as well). Being sociology students, we expected to get hands-on experience of field work from the very beginning but that did not happen which is no doubt a set-back for all of us. Apart from that we are given research topics to work on, which provides an in-depth knowledge about the subject.

Placement Experience

4.5

The placement cell of our college is excellent. Some of the top companies like samsung, dee shaw, optum, sapients etc have hired a number of students from our college. Every year atleast 80-85% students get placed after their final years. Each company conducts a three-step exam which includes coding, written test followed by interview. The placement coordinator is very helpful and reliable.

College Events

5

I would blindly give a thumps-up with it comes to writing about campus life. This college provides the best campus life a student can dream of getting. Along with regular classes, time to time seminars and workshops, there are innumerable number of events and activities that take place all throughout the year. There are a lot of student-run clubs and societies like dance, music, painting, debate, photography, quiz, mountaneering, fashion etc. The footfall for each event goes upto minimum 10k people. We also call artists and famous personalities for being a part of these events as judges, panelists, guest performer etc. We also have inter-departmental sports held every year for both girls and boys.

Campus Life

The campus infrastructure is very scattered types. In some faculty and departments the infrastructures are very good but in some it is very poor and shabby. The science labs are non air conditioned with poor ventilation. Wifi is good only in selected areas. The Central library is very spacious but contains a very limited collection of books (for certain depts). The departmental libraries are comparatively smaller in size but has good books and journals. There is an uni sex gym as well for the students. The washrooms are not cleaned regularly (barring a few).

Hostel Facilities

I am not staying in a hostel but I can briefly say about it since a lot of my friends are staying. The girls hostel rooms are comparatively cleaner and well maintained than the boys hostel rooms. Only two students are allowed per room. Food provided is not upto the mark and most of the times students have to rely on outside food. The accomodation cost is 2000 including food. The rooms are not quiet spacious also.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for campus placements starting from the 7th semester. For placement drives, we have to visit the main campus, Techno Main Salt Lake (TMSL). Since students from other Techno India campuses and branches also participate, the competition is extremely high. In the 2025–2026 academic year, fewer companies visited. Only two companies, Dronahost and WishCare, visited our specific campus directly. The remaining drives—mostly service-based companies like TCS and EY, along with a few startups—were conducted at the main campus. The remaining drives mostly service based companies like TCS, EY etc and quite a few startups has visited to main campus. The package they offered mostly in between 3.5lpa - 6 lpa. Furthermore the selection process of those startups is quite rigorous often consisting of upto 5 rounds of interview, two technical rounds with two technical interviews, and HR round My plans after getting the degree is either pursue an MBA or preparing for govt jobs
